INTRODUCTION
THE FOUR HORSEMEN MUST BE SEEN FROM THE THRONE
Few images in the entire Bible have captured the imagination of humanity like the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
The white horse.
The red horse.
The black horse.
The pale horse.
For generations, these four riders have been portrayed as terrifying messengers galloping across the earth carrying conquest, warfare, famine, pestilence, and death. They have appeared in sermons, books, paintings, movies, prophetic charts, and countless predictions concerning the end of the world.
When wars break out, someone points to the red horse.
When famine strikes, someone points to the black horse.
When disease spreads, someone points to the pale horse.
When political powers rise, someone begins searching for the rider upon the white horse.
Consequently, millions of people have learned to approach Revelation chapter six with fear before they ever understand the spiritual language in which the vision was given.
But there is a problem with beginning there.
John did not begin with the horses.
Before John ever saw a white horse, he saw a throne.
Before he saw a rider carrying a bow, he saw the Lamb.
Before the seals began opening, John heard the declaration that the Lion of the tribe of Judah had prevailed.
The Four Horsemen do not suddenly appear in Scripture as independent powers released outside the government of God. They appear because the Lamb opens the seals of the book.
That changes everything.
If we begin with the horsemen instead of the Lamb, Revelation becomes a book of catastrophe.
If we begin with the Lamb, Revelation becomes an unveiling of divine administration.
The question, therefore, is not merely:
Who are the Four Horsemen?
The greater question is:
What is the Lamb revealing and accomplishing through the opening of these seals?
That question requires us to travel farther back than Revelation chapter six.
We must go back through Scripture.
We must understand the language God has already established.
The Bible does not wait until its final book to invent an entirely new vocabulary. Revelation gathers together images, symbols, patterns, and spiritual principles that have already appeared throughout the Word of God.
The serpent of Revelation takes us back to Genesis.
Babylon takes us back through the prophets.
The tree of life takes us back to Eden.
The Lamb takes us through Passover, sacrifice, prophecy, the cross, and resurrection.
The throne takes us through the Psalms and the prophets.
The horses and riders also have a biblical history.
Therefore, if we want to understand the horses of Revelation, we must first understand how God has already used the imagery of horses and riders throughout His Word.
Scripture Interprets Scripture
This is one of the great principles that will govern this study:
Scripture interprets Scripture.
We will not begin with newspapers and attempt to force their headlines into Revelation.
We will not begin with modern warfare and work backward into John’s vision.
We will not begin with fear.
We will begin with the Word.
Revelation is the unveiling of Jesus Christ, and every symbol within the book must ultimately be understood within that unveiling.
That includes the Four Horsemen.
THE BOOK IS IN THE HAND OF HIM WHO SITS UPON THE THRONE
Revelation chapter five prepares us for everything that follows.
John sees a book in the right hand of Him who sits upon the throne. The book is written within and on the backside and sealed with seven seals.
Then a mighty angel proclaims:
Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof?
John weeps because no man is found worthy.
But one of the elders tells him:
Weep not.
Why?
Because the Lion of the tribe of Judah has prevailed.
Then John looks.
And what does he see?
A Lamb.
This is the great transition that must govern our interpretation of the seals.
The Lamb is worthy.
The Lamb takes the book.
The Lamb opens the seals.
Therefore, Revelation chapter six cannot be properly understood apart from Revelation chapter five.
The horsemen are not running loose outside the authority of Christ.
The seals are being opened by the One who prevailed through death, resurrection, sacrifice, and victory.
The cross is behind the opening of the seals.
The resurrection is behind the opening of the seals.
The throne is behind the opening of the seals.
The victory of Christ is behind the opening of the seals.
The Four Horsemen must therefore be interpreted from the victory of the Lamb.
REVELATION IS AN UNVEILING
The word Revelation means an unveiling.
Something hidden is being uncovered.
Something sealed is being opened.
Something previously unseen is being made visible.
That principle is especially important when we come to the seven-sealed book.
A seal conceals.
The opening of a seal reveals.
Therefore, when the Lamb begins opening the seals, He is not merely releasing events.
He is unveiling realities.
This is why the first question we should ask when a seal opens is not:
What disaster happens next?
We should ask:
What is being revealed?
The Four Horsemen belong to this process of unveiling.
The white horse reveals.
The red horse reveals.
The black horse reveals.
The pale horse reveals.
And together they form a progression that cannot be properly understood when each rider is isolated from the others.
They are part of one opening.
One administration.
One divine purpose.
And one victorious Lamb.
FROM GENESIS TO REVELATION
This book will therefore begin where biblical interpretation should begin: with Scripture itself.
We will follow the language of God from Genesis through the Law, the Prophets, the Psalms, the teachings of Jesus, and the apostolic writings until we arrive at John’s vision.
We will examine horses and riders throughout Scripture.
We will examine conquest.
We will examine the sword.
We will examine balances and measurements.
We will examine famine.
We will examine death and hell.
We will examine the meaning of the earth upon which these operations take place.
And above all, we will examine the Lamb who opens the book.
Only after laying that foundation will we approach the four riders individually.
First comes the white horse, going forth conquering and to conquer.
Then comes the red horse, with power to take peace from the earth.
Then comes the black horse, whose rider carries balances in his hand.
Finally comes the pale horse, whose rider is named Death, with Hell following after him.
But our study will not end with the fourth horse.
Because Revelation does not end there.
The seals continue opening.
The trumpets sound.
Babylon falls.
Zion appears.
The Kingdom is proclaimed.
The New Jerusalem descends.
The river of life flows.
The tree of life appears again.
And the Lamb remains victorious.
Therefore, the Four Horsemen cannot be interpreted as though Revelation ends in chapter six.
They must be understood in light of where the entire revelation is going.
THE PURPOSE OF THIS BOOK
This book is not written to produce another end-time timetable.
It is not written to identify modern politicians, nations, armies, diseases, or economic events as individual horsemen.
It is not written to frighten believers concerning what might happen tomorrow.
It is written to ask a much deeper question:
What was the Spirit revealing when the Lamb opened the first four seals?
To answer that question, we must see what John saw.
We must hear what John heard.
And most importantly, we must stand where John stood.
John was not viewing these things merely from the turmoil of the earth.
He had heard the voice:
Come up hither.
He was in the Spirit.
He saw the throne.
He saw the Lamb.
And from that realm he watched the seals begin to open.
That is where we must read Revelation.
Not from fear.
Not from speculation.
Not from the latest headline.
But from the throne.
Because when the Four Horsemen are seen from the throne, the question changes.
We stop asking:
What terrible thing is about to happen?
And we begin asking:
What is the Lamb unveiling?
That is the journey before us.
From Genesis to Revelation.
From the language of Scripture to the opening of the seals.
From the white horse to the pale horse.
From the horsemen to the throne.
And through it all stands the central testimony of the Book of Revelation:
THE LAMB HAS PREVAILED.
CHAPTER ONE
THE LANGUAGE OF GOD — FROM GENESIS TO REVELATION
REVELATION DID NOT INVENT A NEW LANGUAGE

“The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John.”

TEACHING
The Book of Revelation does not introduce a strange new language at the end of the Bible.
The word “signified” immediately gives us one of the great keys to understanding the book.
John was shown truth through signs.
Symbols.
Pictures.
Patterns.
Images.
Numbers.
Beasts.
Horses.
Riders.
Seals.
Trumpets.
Vials.
Mountains.
Seas.
Stars.
A dragon.
A woman.
A city.
A Lamb.
A throne.
But Revelation did not invent these symbols.
God had already been speaking this language throughout Scripture.
By the time John saw four horses coming forth in Revelation chapter six, horses and riders had already appeared in the prophetic language of the Old Testament.
By the time John saw the Lamb, the Lamb had already been revealed from Genesis through Exodus, Isaiah, the Gospels, and the cross.
By the time John saw Babylon, Babylon already had a long biblical history.
By the time John saw the serpent, Scripture had already introduced the serpent in Genesis.
By the time John saw the tree of life, the tree of life had already appeared in Eden.
Therefore, we cannot properly interpret Revelation by beginning with Revelation alone.
WE MUST LET SCRIPTURE INTERPRET SCRIPTURE.
The language of Revelation was developed throughout the entire Bible.
If we understand the language, we can understand the vision.
If we misunderstand the language, we will misunderstand what John saw.
THE BEGINNING INTERPRETS THE END
SCRIPTURE
“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”
— Genesis 1:1
TEACHING
The first verse of the Bible introduces us to heaven and earth.
The final chapters of Revelation bring us again to heaven and earth.
Genesis and Revelation are connected.
Genesis introduces the tree of life.
Revelation reveals the tree of life again.
Genesis introduces a river.
Revelation reveals the river of the water of life.
Genesis introduces the serpent.
Revelation identifies the dragon as “that old serpent.”
Genesis introduces death.
Revelation reveals the destruction of death.
Genesis reveals a garden.
Revelation reveals a city filled with the life of the garden.
Genesis begins with God’s purpose in man.
Revelation brings that purpose into fullness.
The ending of Scripture cannot be separated from its beginning.
REVELATION IS GENESIS BROUGHT TO FULLNESS.
What begins as seed develops throughout the Word until it reaches maturity.
That is why we are going from Genesis to Revelation before attempting to interpret the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
We need to learn God’s language.
THE SEED CONTAINS THE HARVEST
SCRIPTURE
“And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself.”
— Genesis 1:11
TEACHING
God established a tremendous principle in creation.
The seed is in itself.
An acorn does not look like a mature oak tree.
But everything necessary to produce the oak is contained within the seed.
The same principle operates throughout Scripture.
Genesis contains tremendous truths in seed form.
As Scripture unfolds, those seeds grow.
They develop.
They mature.
Finally, Revelation shows many of them in fullness.
Genesis gives us the serpent in seed form.
Revelation gives us the old serpent fully exposed.
Genesis gives us Babylon in principle through human government and self-exaltation.
The prophets develop Babylon.
Revelation unveils Babylon in fullness.
Genesis gives us the tree of life.
Revelation reveals the tree of life in the midst of the city.
Genesis gives us dominion.
Revelation reveals kings and priests reigning.
Therefore:
GENESIS PLANTS THE LANGUAGE.
THE LAW DEVELOPS THE LANGUAGE.
THE PROPHETS ENLARGE THE LANGUAGE.
JESUS CHRIST EMBODIES THE LANGUAGE.
THE APOSTLES EXPLAIN THE LANGUAGE.
REVELATION BRINGS THE LANGUAGE TO FULLNESS.
One Bible.
One Spirit.
One purpose.
One unfolding revelation.
GOD USES THE VISIBLE TO REVEAL THE INVISIBLE
SCRIPTURE
“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.”
— Psalm 19:1
TEACHING
God has always used visible things to reveal invisible realities.
Creation itself speaks.
Light teaches.
Darkness teaches.
Seed teaches.
Harvest teaches.
Water teaches.
Fire teaches.
Mountains teach.
Trees teach.
Animals teach.
Horses teach.
God takes something visible and uses it as a language through which spiritual truth can be understood.
This is why prophetic Scripture is filled with imagery.
Joseph saw sheaves.
Pharaoh saw cattle.
Nebuchadnezzar saw an image.
Daniel saw beasts.
Zechariah saw horses.
Ezekiel saw wheels.
Jeremiah saw an almond rod.
John saw all kinds of symbolic images.
The image is not the revelation itself.
THE IMAGE CARRIES THE REVELATION.
This is crucial when we come to the Four Horsemen.
We are not merely studying four animals.
We are studying what God is communicating through the horses and their riders.
JESUS TAUGHT THE SAME LANGUAGE
SCRIPTURE
“Behold, a sower went forth to sow.”
— Matthew 13:3
TEACHING
Jesus constantly used natural pictures to reveal spiritual realities.
He spoke of a sower.
Seed.
Ground.
Wheat.
Tares.
Trees.
Fruit.
Bread.
Water.
Fish.
Sheep.
Vines.
Branches.
Harvests.
When Jesus spoke about seed, He was not giving an agricultural seminar.
The seed represented something greater.
When He spoke about soil, He was revealing conditions within men.
When He spoke about wheat and tares, He was revealing two different productions growing toward maturity.
When He spoke about vines and branches, He was revealing union.
The natural image carried spiritual truth.
The Book of Revelation operates according to this same divine principle.
We cannot suddenly arrive at Revelation and abandon the language God has used throughout the rest of Scripture.
THE SEED IS THE WORD
SCRIPTURE
“Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.”
— Luke 8:11
TEACHING
Jesus interpreted His own symbol.
He said plainly:
The seed is the Word of God.
This shows us how biblical symbolism works.
Seed is a natural thing.
But within the teaching of Jesus, seed becomes a spiritual language.
Once Jesus establishes that language, we can recognize the principle elsewhere.
This is exactly what we must do with Revelation.
We must search Scripture and discover how God has already used its symbols.
What does a horse represent?
What does a rider represent?
What does a crown represent?
What does a bow represent?
What does a sword represent?
What do balances represent?
What do wheat and barley represent?
What do oil and wine represent?
What does death represent?
What is hell?
What is the earth?
What is heaven?
What does it mean for peace to be taken from the earth?
These questions cannot be answered merely by looking at current events.
THE ANSWERS MUST COME FROM THE WORD.

“Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.”

Here is one of the governing principles of this entire book:
COMPARING SPIRITUAL THINGS WITH SPIRITUAL.
When we encounter a symbol in Revelation, we search Scripture for its spiritual language.
We do not begin with newspapers.
We do not begin with television.
We do not begin with political theories.
We do not begin with fear.
We begin with Scripture.
If John sees a sword, we search the Word for the meaning of the sword.
If John sees a horse, we search the Word for horses.
If John sees balances, we search the Word for balances.
If John sees famine, we search the Word for famine.
If John sees death, we follow death from Adam to Christ.
This does not mean natural events have no place in God’s purposes.
It means natural events cannot be allowed to define spiritual symbols contrary to the language God has already established.
GOD INTERPRETS HIS OWN WORD.
THE NATURAL MAN CANNOT DISCERN SPIRITUAL THINGS
SCRIPTURE
“But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”
— 1 Corinthians 2:14
TEACHING
Revelation was never intended to be understood merely through natural reasoning.
The natural mind looks at everything from the earth.
The spiritual mind sees from God.
The natural mind sees a horse and immediately searches for an earthly army.
The spiritual mind asks:
What has God said about horses?
The natural mind sees a sword and immediately sees physical warfare.
The spiritual mind searches Scripture and discovers a sword proceeding from the mouth of Christ.
The natural mind sees famine and thinks only about the absence of natural food.
But the prophet Amos declared:
“Not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD.”
God uses natural language to reveal spiritual realities.
Therefore, spiritual discernment is absolutely necessary.
JOHN WAS IN THE SPIRIT
SCRIPTURE
“I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet.”
— Revelation 1:10
TEACHING
This may be one of the most important statements in the entire Book of Revelation.
John tells us where he was.
I WAS IN THE SPIRIT.
That is pay dirt.
If we miss this, we can spend our entire lives trying to interpret a spiritual revelation from the natural realm.
John did not say:
I was in Roman politics.
I was in world economics.
I was in military strategy.
I was in newspaper headlines.
He said:
I WAS IN THE SPIRIT.
The Revelation was seen in the Spirit.
The throne was seen in the Spirit.
The Lamb was seen in the Spirit.
The seals were opened in the Spirit.
The horses were seen in the Spirit.
Therefore, we must understand the revelation from the realm in which John received it.
YOU CANNOT INTERPRET FROM THE EARTH WHAT JOHN SAW FROM THE SPIRIT.
This does not mean Revelation has no manifestation in the earth.
It means its meaning originates in the Spirit.
COME UP HITHER
SCRIPTURE
“After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.”
— Revelation 4:1
TEACHING
Before John sees the opening of the seals, he hears a voice:
COME UP HITHER.
This is critical.
Revelation chapter six must be interpreted from Revelation chapter four.
John is called upward.
He sees a throne.
He sees divine government.
He sees heavenly order.
Then in Revelation chapter five he sees the Lamb take the book.
Only after the throne has been revealed and the Lamb has taken the book do the seals begin to open.
Therefore, the Four Horsemen cannot be interpreted correctly from an earthly viewpoint.
THEY MUST BE SEEN FROM THE THRONE.
From the earth, everything looks chaotic.
From the throne, there is administration.
From the earth, we see crisis.
From the throne, we see purpose.
From the earth, we see uncertainty.
From the throne, we see the Lamb holding the book.
THE LAMB CONTROLS THE OPENING
SCRIPTURE
“And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals.”
— Revelation 6:1
TEACHING
There it is.
Who opened the seal?
THE LAMB.
Not the devil.
Not the beast.
Not Rome.
Not some modern government.
Not some mysterious world ruler.
THE LAMB OPENED THE SEAL.
Before we identify the rider, we must identify the One opening the seal.
Before we interpret the horse, we must see the Lamb.
Before we talk about judgment, we must see the Lamb.
Before we talk about conquest, war, famine, death, or hell, we must establish that the entire opening begins with Jesus Christ.
This is the Revelation of Jesus Christ.
The Lamb is not standing helplessly while four uncontrollable powers destroy His creation.
The Lamb is opening the seals.
Therefore, whatever these horses reveal must ultimately be understood within the administration and victory of Christ.
THE LAMB HAS PREVAILED
SCRIPTURE
“Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.”
— Revelation 5:5
TEACHING
This statement destroys the foundation of fear.
THE LAMB HAS PREVAILED.
The book is not opened from defeat.
It is opened from victory.
The seals are not opened because Christ is losing.
They are opened because Christ has prevailed.
Everything that follows must be interpreted through that victory.
The white horse comes forth from victory.
The red horse comes forth under the authority of victory.
The black horse comes forth under the authority of victory.
The pale horse comes forth under the authority of victory.
The entire vision operates beneath the government of the Lamb.
If our interpretation makes the horsemen greater than the Lamb, our interpretation is wrong.
If our interpretation makes Satan the central character of Revelation, our interpretation is wrong.
If our interpretation makes Revelation primarily about fear, our interpretation is wrong.
THE CENTRAL FIGURE OF REVELATION IS JESUS CHRIST.
REVELATION MEANS UNVEILING
SCRIPTURE
“The Revelation of Jesus Christ.”

TEACHING
Revelation means unveiling.
Something covered is uncovered.
Something hidden is revealed.
Something sealed is opened.
This becomes especially powerful when we come to the seven seals.
A seal hides something.
Opening the seal reveals what was hidden.
Therefore, when the Lamb opens the first four seals, we should not merely ask:
What is being released?
We should also ask:
WHAT IS BEING REVEALED?
The white horse reveals something.
The red horse reveals something.
The black horse reveals something.
The pale horse reveals something.
The seals are openings.
The horsemen are part of an unveiling.
This is not merely a timetable of disasters.
IT IS THE REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST.
THE FOUR HORSEMEN BELONG TO ONE REVELATION
SCRIPTURE

TEACHING
We must resist the temptation to tear the Four Horsemen apart and interpret each one as an unrelated event.
They come forth in sequence.
First the white.
Then the red.
Then the black.
Then the pale.
There is progression.
There is order.
There is administration.
There is purpose.
The same Lamb opens every seal.
The same throne stands behind every operation.
The same book is being opened.
The same divine purpose is unfolding.
Therefore, the Four Horsemen must eventually be understood together.
Each horse reveals a dimension.
But together they reveal an administration.
FOUR HORSES.
FOUR RIDERS.
FOUR OPERATIONS.
ONE BOOK.
ONE LAMB.
ONE THRONE.
ONE DIVINE PURPOSE.
FROM GENESIS TO REVELATION
SCRIPTURE
“Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.”
— Acts 15:18
TEACHING
God did not invent His purpose halfway through history.
He did not react to Adam.
He did not create one plan in Genesis, another plan under Moses, another plan at Calvary, and finally another plan in Revelation.
God has one eternal purpose.
Scripture progressively unveils that purpose.
What God settled in His counsel is revealed within time.
What appears as seed in Genesis develops through the ages until it reaches fullness.
Therefore, as we approach the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, we are going to follow God’s language.
We are going to compare spiritual things with spiritual.
We are going to allow Scripture to interpret Scripture.
We are going to refuse to begin with fear.
We are going to refuse to begin with headlines.
We are going to refuse to pull four horses out of Revelation chapter six and disconnect them from the rest of the Bible.
We are going to begin where God begins.
And we are going to follow the revelation until we arrive where John arrived:
IN THE SPIRIT.
BEFORE THE THRONE.
BEHOLDING THE LAMB.
Because before we can understand the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, we must understand the language in which God revealed them.
And once that language begins to open, the horses will begin to speak.
THE LAMB HAS PREVAILED.
THE BOOK IS BEING OPENED.
NOW LET US FOLLOW THE HORSES THROUGH THE WORD.

“I saw by night, and behold a man riding upon a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle trees that were in the bottom; and behind him were there red horses, speckled, and white.”

The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse did not suddenly appear in Revelation chapter six without a biblical background.
Long before John saw horses coming forth as the Lamb opened the seals, the prophets had already seen horses and riders in visions from God.
This is tremendously important.
If we begin our interpretation of the Four Horsemen with modern history, we can make the horses mean almost anything.
But if we begin with Scripture, the language starts interpreting itself.
Zechariah saw horses.
He saw different colors.
He saw riders.
He saw them operating under divine authority.
Therefore, when John later sees colored horses and riders in Revelation, a student of Scripture should immediately recognize familiar prophetic language.
JOHN IS NOT INVENTING THE HORSES.
HE IS STANDING IN THE SAME PROPHETIC STREAM.
The language was already established.
Our responsibility is to follow it.
HORSES SPEAK OF POWER IN MOTION
SCRIPTURE
“The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD.”
— Proverbs 21:31
TEACHING
Throughout the ancient world, the horse was associated with power, warfare, conquest, speed, and movement.
A horse was not primarily a stationary image.
A horse moved.
A horse carried.
A horse advanced.
A horse brought its rider into action.
This gives us an important foundation for understanding prophetic horses.
A HORSE REPRESENTS POWER IN MOTION.
The rider directs that power.
The horse carries the rider’s administration into operation.
This distinction will become increasingly important as we approach Revelation chapter six.
We must look at both:
the horse
and
the rider.
What is the nature of the horse?
Who or what is directing it?
What authority has been given?
What is being accomplished?
Where is the horse moving?
What follows its movement?
These are biblical questions.
THE RIDER GOVERNS THE HORSE
SCRIPTURE
“And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.”
“And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh…”

TEACHING
A horse carries power, but a rider gives direction to that power.
The horse does not determine its own destination.
The rider governs its movement.
This becomes one of the simplest but most useful principles for understanding the Four Horsemen.
THE HORSE CARRIES THE OPERATION.
THE RIDER DIRECTS THE OPERATION.
When John sees a rider upon a white horse, we must examine both the color and the rider.
When he sees the red horse, we must examine what is given to the rider.
When he sees the black horse, we must notice what the rider carries in his hand.
When he sees the pale horse, John actually gives us the rider’s name.
Every detail matters.
Nothing in the vision is accidental.
GOD HIMSELF IS REVEALED AS A RIDER
SCRIPTURE
“Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name JAH, and rejoice before him.”
— Psalm 68:4
TEACHING
This immediately keeps us from making the mistake of assuming that every image of a rider must represent something evil.
Scripture uses the imagery of riding for God Himself.
He rides upon the heavens.
He rides upon the clouds.
The language speaks of divine movement, majesty, government, and power.
Therefore, a rider in prophetic language must be interpreted by its context.
We cannot say:
Horse equals evil.
Rider equals evil.
Judgment equals Satan.
That would violate Scripture before we ever reached Revelation.
The question is always:
WHO IS RIDING?
WHAT AUTHORITY IS OPERATING?
WHAT PURPOSE IS BEING ACCOMPLISHED?
THE LORD RIDES UPON A SWIFT CLOUD
SCRIPTURE
“Behold, the LORD rideth upon a swift cloud, and shall come into Egypt: and the idols of Egypt shall be moved at his presence…”
— Isaiah 19:1
TEACHING
Here again we see the prophetic language of divine movement.
The Lord rides.
His presence comes into a realm.
Idols are shaken.
False powers are exposed.
Something changes because God moves.
This is one reason we must be careful with prophetic imagery.
If we insist that every image must be interpreted with wooden literalism, we would have to begin looking for God physically sitting upon a cloud.
But Isaiah is communicating something greater.
God is moving in judgment and administration.
His presence confronts Egypt.
The idols cannot remain untouched.
The language is symbolic, but the operation is real.
SYMBOLIC DOES NOT MEAN UNREAL.
It means a visible image is being used to communicate a spiritual reality.
That is exactly the kind of language we encounter in Revelation.
THE LORD’S HORSES ARE NOT OUTSIDE HIS GOVERNMENT
SCRIPTURE
“And his horses are swifter than the leopards, and are more fierce than the evening wolves…”
— Habakkuk 1:8
TEACHING
The prophets repeatedly use horses in connection with movements of judgment, nations, armies, and divine administration.
The horse communicates strength.
Speed.
Movement.
An operation advancing toward its appointed purpose.
But we must never separate these movements from the sovereignty of God.
Even when nations are involved, Scripture sees beyond the natural instrument to the divine purpose operating through history.
This will become essential in Revelation.
John does not see the horsemen while standing on the earth wondering who is in control.
He has already seen the throne.
He has already seen the Lamb.
He has already heard that the Lamb has prevailed.
And the Lamb opens the seals.
Therefore:
THE HORSEMEN MUST BE INTERPRETED UNDER THE THRONE.
ZECHARIAH SAW FOUR CHARIOTS
SCRIPTURE
“And I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came four chariots out from between two mountains…”
— Zechariah 6:1

Now we come to one of the most important Old Testament passages for understanding the Four Horsemen of Revelation.
Zechariah sees:
FOUR CHARIOTS.
Already the number should catch our attention.
John will later see four horses coming forth under the first four seals.
Zechariah’s vision contains four groups of horses.
Revelation contains four horses.
This does not mean every detail is identical.
But it means John is using prophetic language that Scripture has already established.
We must listen carefully.
RED, BLACK, WHITE, AND GRISLED HORSES
SCRIPTURE
“In the first chariot were red horses; and in the second chariot black horses;
And in the third chariot white horses; and in the fourth chariot grisled and bay horses.”
— Zechariah 6:2–3
TEACHING
Now the connection becomes impossible to ignore.
Zechariah sees:
Red horses.
Black horses.
White horses.
Grisled and bay horses.
John sees:
A white horse.
A red horse.
A black horse.
A pale horse.
We should immediately understand that the colors in Revelation do not appear out of nowhere.
There is prophetic history behind them.
The Holy Spirit has already used colored horses to communicate divine operations.
Therefore, before someone tells us the Four Horsemen are simply four modern catastrophes, we must ask:
WHAT DID THE HORSES MEAN WHEN GOD SHOWED THEM TO ZECHARIAH?
Fortunately, Zechariah asked the same question.
WHAT ARE THESE, MY LORD?
SCRIPTURE
“Then I answered and said unto the angel that talked with me, What are these, my lord?”
— Zechariah 6:4
TEACHING
That is the right question.
Zechariah did not invent an interpretation.
He asked.
WHAT ARE THESE?
This should be our attitude toward Revelation.
We should not approach the text determined to make it fit something we have already been taught.
We should not begin with a chart and then force Scripture into the chart.
We should not begin with a newspaper and force the vision into the headline.
We should ask:
Lord, what are these?
And then we should allow Scripture to answer.
Zechariah asked what the horses represented.
The answer gives us a tremendous key.
THE FOUR SPIRITS OF THE HEAVENS
SCRIPTURE
“And the angel answered and said unto me, These are the four spirits of the heavens, which go forth from standing before the Lord of all the earth.”
— Zechariah 6:5
TEACHING
Here is our biblical foundation.
The horses are associated with:
THE FOUR SPIRITS OF THE HEAVENS.
And where have they been?
STANDING BEFORE THE LORD OF ALL THE EARTH.
That is throne language.
That is government language.
That is administration language.
They do not originate in chaos.
They proceed from the presence of divine government.
Now compare that with Revelation.
Before the horses appear in Revelation chapter six, John sees the throne in chapter four.
Then he sees the Lamb in chapter five.
Then the Lamb opens the seals in chapter six.
The order matters.
THRONE.
LAMB.
BOOK.
SEALS.
HORSES.
We cannot reverse the order.
The horses must be understood in relation to what stands behind them.
And what stands behind them?
THE THRONE OF GOD.
THEY GO FORTH
SCRIPTURE
“These are the four spirits of the heavens, which go forth from standing before the Lord of all the earth.”

Notice the language:
THEY GO FORTH.
That phrase becomes very important when we arrive at the first horse in Revelation.
The rider upon the white horse goes forth.
“He went forth conquering, and to conquer.”
This is movement.
Administration.
Operation.
Something that has stood before divine government is now going forth into activity.
The horse carries an operation from one realm into another.
This gives us a much stronger biblical foundation than simply saying:
White horse equals this historical person.
Red horse equals this particular war.
Black horse equals this famine.
Pale horse equals this disease.
Those interpretations may produce interesting charts, but we are after something deeper.
WE WANT THE LANGUAGE OF GOD.
THE HORSES WALK TO AND FRO THROUGH THE EARTH
SCRIPTURE
“And the man that stood among the myrtle trees answered and said, These are they whom the LORD hath sent to walk to and fro through the earth.”
— Zechariah 1:10
TEACHING
Again, the horses are sent.
They have purpose.
They have direction.
They move through the earth.
The language is administrative.
This raises another question we will have to address as our study develops:
WHAT DOES REVELATION MEAN BY “THE EARTH”?
Sometimes Scripture speaks of the literal physical earth.
But prophetic language can also use earth to describe a realm, an order, a people, or a state of being contrasted with heaven.
John sees things operating in heaven.
He sees things operating in earth.
He sees things operating in the sea.
These realms form part of Revelation’s language.
Therefore, when the red horse is given power to take peace from the earth, we must not assume the meaning before we examine the language.
We will allow Scripture to tell us.
CHARIOTS OF GOD
SCRIPTURE
“The chariots of God are twenty thousand, even thousands of angels: the Lord is among them…”
— Psalm 68:17
TEACHING
Again we find horses and chariots associated with divine activity.
The prophetic picture is not one of a powerless God standing outside history.
God governs.
God moves.
God administers.
God judges.
God reveals.
God brings His purpose to completion.
Revelation is filled with movement from the throne.
Voices proceed from the throne.
Lightnings proceed from the throne.
Trumpets sound.
Seals open.
Messengers move.
Horses go forth.
Bowls are poured.
Babylon falls.
Zion stands.
The New Jerusalem descends.
The river flows.
Everything is moving toward divine fullness.
REVELATION IS THE ADMINISTRATION OF A VICTORY ALREADY WON IN THE LAMB.
ELIJAH AND THE HORSES OF FIRE
SCRIPTURE
“And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire…”
— 2 Kings 2:11
TEACHING
Here again horses appear in a supernatural context.
These are horses of fire.
The image cannot be reduced to ordinary natural cavalry.
It belongs to the language of spiritual reality.
Fire throughout Scripture carries tremendous meaning.
God appeared in fire.
The Word is compared to fire.
Judgment is associated with fire.
Purification is associated with fire.
The Holy Ghost appears with tongues like as of fire.
Therefore, the Bible continually combines natural imagery with spiritual meaning.
The same principle must govern our understanding of Revelation.
ELISHA SAW WHAT THE SERVANT COULD NOT SEE
SCRIPTURE
“And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see.”
“And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.”
— 2 Kings 6:17
TEACHING
This is powerful.
The horses were present before the servant could see them.
His natural eyes saw an enemy army.
Elisha saw another realm.
The servant saw danger.
Elisha saw divine government.
The servant saw what was happening on earth.
Elisha saw what surrounded the situation from the spiritual realm.
Then Elisha prayed:
LORD, OPEN HIS EYES.
That is precisely what Revelation means.
An unveiling.
An opening of the eyes.
A revealing of what cannot be understood merely through natural sight.
John was shown another realm.
He saw the throne.
He saw the Lamb.
He saw horses.
The natural man looks at Revelation and sees catastrophe.
The spiritual man asks God to open his eyes.
WHAT IS REALLY OPERATING HERE?
SOME TRUST IN HORSES
SCRIPTURE
“Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.”
— Psalm 20:7
TEACHING
Scripture also warns us not to mistake the instrument for the source of power.
Men trust in horses because horses represent natural strength.
Military strength.
Human ability.
Visible power.
But God’s people are called beyond dependence upon visible power.
This gives us another dimension of the symbol.
A horse can represent power in motion, but the nature and source of that power must always be discerned.
Whose horse?
Whose rider?
Whose authority?
Whose purpose?
This is why Revelation gives us details.
Color matters.
The rider matters.
What the rider carries matters.
What is given to the rider matters.
Where the horse goes matters.
What follows matters.
THE HORSE IS A VAIN THING FOR SAFETY
SCRIPTURE
“An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.”
— Psalm 33:17
TEACHING
Natural strength cannot accomplish God’s eternal purpose.
The horse possesses strength, but strength alone does not save.
This is another reason the rider matters.
Power without divine direction cannot produce divine purpose.
The Four Horsemen are not merely pictures of raw power.
They are pictures of power under administration.
And Revelation has already told us where the administration originates.
THE LAMB OPENS THE SEALS.
THE WHITE HORSE APPEARS AGAIN
SCRIPTURE
“And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True…”
— Revelation 19:11
TEACHING
This verse is enormously important.
Revelation itself gives us another white horse.
And this time there is no question concerning the rider.
He is called:
FAITHFUL AND TRUE.
The passage continues until the rider is identified with the Word of God.
Therefore, we cannot establish a rule that a horseman in Revelation must automatically represent an evil power.
Revelation itself will not allow it.
The white horse of Revelation 19 is directly associated with Christ.
That does not mean we should automatically assume every white horse in Scripture carries exactly the same meaning.
But it does establish something important:
HORSE IMAGERY CAN BELONG TO THE ADMINISTRATION OF CHRIST.
That becomes extremely important when we interpret the first seal.
OUT OF HIS MOUTH GOETH A SHARP SWORD
SCRIPTURE
“And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations…”
— Revelation 19:15
TEACHING
Here we see why learning God’s language matters.
A natural interpretation sees a sword and thinks immediately of a metal weapon.
But where does this sword come from?
HIS MOUTH.
Christ does not have a literal steel blade sticking out of His mouth.
The imagery interprets itself through Scripture.
The sword proceeding from His mouth speaks of His Word.
His authority.
His judgment.
His truth.
His declaration.
This same principle will become important when we reach the red horse and the great sword given to its rider.
We cannot simply see the word sword and assume natural warfare.
We must ask:
HOW DOES GOD USE THE SWORD THROUGHOUT SCRIPTURE?
That is how Revelation opens.
One symbol at a time.
One Scripture at a time.
One revelation at a time.
HORSES MUST BE READ PROPHETICALLY
SCRIPTURE
“Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.”
— Amos 3:7
TEACHING
The prophets have already given us the language.
Zechariah gives us colored horses.
He gives us four groups.
He gives us horses going forth.
He connects them with the spirits of heaven.
He shows them standing before the Lord of all the earth.
The Psalms show God riding.
Isaiah shows the Lord riding.
Kings shows horses and chariots of fire.
Revelation shows Christ upon a white horse.
The biblical witness is broad enough that we cannot reduce horse imagery to one simplistic definition.
But a pattern clearly emerges.
HORSES SPEAK OF POWER.
HORSES SPEAK OF MOVEMENT.
HORSES SPEAK OF ADMINISTRATION.
HORSES SPEAK OF SOMETHING GOING FORTH.
And the rider reveals the nature, direction, and purpose of the operation.
FOUR HORSES — ONE GOVERNMENT
SCRIPTURE
“These are the four spirits of the heavens, which go forth from standing before the Lord of all the earth.”

This is where we must finish our foundation.
When we reach Revelation chapter six, we will encounter four horses.
But we must remember what Scripture has already shown us.
They do not appear before John sees the throne.
They do not appear before John sees the Lamb.
They do not appear before the Lamb takes the book.
They do not appear until the Lamb opens the seals.
The order is divine.
THE THRONE ESTABLISHES GOVERNMENT.
THE LAMB ESTABLISHES VICTORY.
THE BOOK ESTABLISHES PURPOSE.
THE OPENING OF THE SEALS ESTABLISHES REVELATION.
THE HORSES ESTABLISH THE OPERATION.
Now we are getting somewhere.
The horses are not the starting point.
The throne is.
The horsemen are not the central characters.
The Lamb is.
The horsemen are not four uncontrolled powers galloping through a universe abandoned by God.
They appear within an ordered revelation whose center is the victorious Christ.
That means we are finally ready to approach the book in the hand of Him who sits upon the throne.
Before the white horse can go forth, someone must open the first seal.
Before the seal can be opened, someone must be found worthy.
Before anyone can be found worthy, the book must be revealed.
And when John looked for the One worthy to open that book, he discovered the great truth upon which the entire Book of Revelation stands:
THE LAMB HAS PREVAILED.
In the next chapter, we will stand with John before the throne and examine the Lamb and the Seven-Sealed Book.
Because before we can understand what comes out of the book—
WE MUST UNDERSTAND WHO HOLDS IT.
WE MUST UNDERSTAND WHO TAKES IT.
AND WE MUST UNDERSTAND WHO OPENS IT.
CHAPTER THREE
THE LAMB AND THE SEVEN-SEALED BOOK
BEFORE THE SEALS OPEN, JOHN SEES THE THRONE
SCRIPTURE
“And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.”
— Revelation 4:2
TEACHING
Before John ever sees the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, he sees a throne.
That order cannot be ignored.
Revelation does not begin the opening of the seals with chaos.
It begins with government.
John is called:
COME UP HITHER.
Immediately he is in the Spirit.
And the first great reality brought before him is:
A THRONE WAS SET IN HEAVEN.
The throne was not being constructed.
The throne was not waiting to see what would happen on earth.
The throne was already set.
God was already governing.
Divine purpose was already established.
Before the white horse appears, the throne is set.
Before the red horse appears, the throne is set.
Before the black horse appears, the throne is set.
Before the pale horse appears, the throne is set.
Nothing about Revelation chapter six can overthrow Revelation chapter four.
THE THRONE COMES BEFORE THE HORSES.
Therefore, whatever happens when the seals open must be interpreted from the reality of divine government.
JOHN WAS CALLED ABOVE THE EARTHLY VIEW
SCRIPTURE
“Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.”
— Revelation 4:1
TEACHING
John had to be brought into another realm of understanding.
From the earth, circumstances appear confusing.
Wars rise.
Kingdoms fall.
Systems shake.
Death operates.
Men struggle.
Nations rage.
But John is not told to remain on the earth and interpret everything according to outward appearances.
He hears:
COME UP HITHER.
That is the position from which Revelation must be seen.
John sees from the Spirit.
John sees from heaven.
John sees from the throne.
When we interpret the Four Horsemen merely from the earth, we begin searching history for four disasters.
When we interpret them from the throne, we begin asking what divine operation is being revealed.
The viewpoint changes the interpretation.
EARTH SEES CHAOS.
THE THRONE SEES ADMINISTRATION.
THE THRONE IS THE CENTER OF REVELATION
SCRIPTURE
“And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne…”
— Revelation 4:3
TEACHING
The throne dominates John’s vision.
Everything is positioned in relationship to it.
The elders are around the throne.
The living creatures are around the throne.
The lamps burn before the throne.
Voices proceed from the throne.
Worship surrounds the throne.
The Lamb appears in the midst of the throne.
This tells us something fundamental about Revelation.
REVELATION IS A THRONE BOOK.
It reveals government.
Authority.
Order.
Administration.
Purpose.
Completion.
The events of Revelation do not occur in a universe where God has lost control.
They unfold beneath the government of the throne.
This is why fear-based interpretations miss the heart of the book.
They magnify the beast.
They magnify Babylon.
They magnify the dragon.
They magnify death.
They magnify catastrophe.
But John magnifies the throne.
And in the midst of the throne he sees the Lamb.
THE BOOK IS IN THE RIGHT HAND
SCRIPTURE
“And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals.”
— Revelation 5:1
TEACHING
Now John sees the book.
Where is it?
IN THE RIGHT HAND OF HIM THAT SAT ON THE THRONE.
That location tells us everything.
The book does not originate with the beast.
The book is not in the dragon’s hand.
The book is not controlled by Babylon.
The book is not lying somewhere waiting for history to determine its contents.
The book is in the hand of the One sitting upon the throne.
In Scripture, the right hand speaks of power, authority, strength, and administration.
Therefore, before one seal opens, God shows John that the entire matter is under divine authority.
THE BOOK IS IN THE HAND OF GOD.
Whatever the seals contain, they belong to His purpose.
Whatever their opening reveals, it proceeds from His government.
Whatever operations follow, they do not take God by surprise.
THE BOOK IS WRITTEN WITHIN AND ON THE BACKSIDE
SCRIPTURE
“A book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals.”
— Revelation 5:1
TEACHING
This is not an empty book.
It is already written.
That is important.
The book is not being written as history unfolds.
It is written before John sees the seals opened.
The purpose is established before the manifestation.
This agrees with the testimony of Scripture concerning God’s eternal counsel.
God does not make His purpose up as He goes.
TIME IS NOT WHERE GOD DECIDES.
TIME IS WHERE GOD UNVEILS.
The opening of the seals does not create God’s purpose.
It reveals it.
The book already contains the counsel.
The seals conceal what is written.
When the seals open, what has been hidden begins to appear.
This is Revelation.
An unveiling.
SEVEN SPEAKS OF COMPLETENESS
SCRIPTURE
“Sealed with seven seals.”
— Revelation 5:1
TEACHING
The number seven runs throughout Revelation.
Seven churches.
Seven spirits.
Seven candlesticks.
Seven stars.
Seven seals.
Seven trumpets.
Seven vials.
Seven repeatedly carries the thought of fullness, completeness, and divine order.
Therefore, the seven-sealed book presents a complete purpose under divine seal.
Nothing is missing.
Nothing needs to be added.
The book does not need another chapter written by man.
It needs to be opened.
THE PROBLEM IS NOT THAT GOD HAS NO PURPOSE.
THE PROBLEM IS THAT WHAT IS WRITTEN MUST BE UNVEILED.
And only one is worthy to open it.
WHO IS WORTHY?
SCRIPTURE
“And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof?”
— Revelation 5:2
TEACHING
Notice the question.
It is not:
Who is intelligent enough?
Who understands prophecy?
Who has studied enough charts?
Who has enough political influence?
Who commands the largest army?
The question is:
WHO IS WORTHY?
The opening of God’s purpose requires more than information.
It requires worthiness.
Someone must possess the authority to take what is in the hand of God and bring it into manifestation.
The whole creation is searched.
Who can open the book?
Who can loose the seals?
Who can administer what God has purposed?
NO MAN WAS FOUND WORTHY
SCRIPTURE
“And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon.”
— Revelation 5:3
TEACHING
No man could do it.
Human wisdom could not open it.
Human government could not open it.
Religion could not open it.
Natural strength could not open it.
Adam could not open it.
Moses could not open it.
David could not open it.
The prophets could not open it.
The apostles could not open it by themselves.
No created order possessed the authority necessary to bring God’s eternal purpose to completion.
This is why Revelation cannot ultimately be centered upon man.
The answer must be found in Christ.
JOHN WEPT MUCH

“And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon.”
— Revelation 5:4

John wept.
Why?
Because the sealed book represented something that had to be opened.
The purpose had to be revealed.
The mystery had to be unveiled.
What God had written had to come into manifestation.
But no man was worthy.
John’s tears represent the inability of humanity to bring God’s purpose into fullness through its own strength.
Religion cannot do it.
Law cannot do it.
Human effort cannot do it.
Political power cannot do it.
Military power cannot do it.
Intellectual power cannot do it.
The answer is not found in Adam.
The answer is found in the Lamb.
WEEP NOT

Two words change the entire atmosphere:
WEEP NOT.
John sees impossibility.
The elder sees victory.
John sees a sealed book.
The elder knows someone has prevailed.
John sees the inability of man.
The elder points him to Christ.
This is the message of Revelation.
Not:
Weep because the devil has won.
Not:
Weep because the earth is doomed.
Not:
Weep because four terrifying riders are about to destroy everything.
WEEP NOT.
Why?
Because someone has prevailed.
THE LION HAS PREVAILED

“Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.”

Here is the foundation of everything that follows.
HE HATH PREVAILED.
Revelation begins from victory.
Christ is not attempting to prevail.
He has prevailed.
He is not trying to defeat sin.
He has prevailed.
He is not trying to conquer death.
He has prevailed.
He is not waiting to discover whether God’s eternal purpose will succeed.
HE HAS PREVAILED.
Therefore, when the seals begin opening, they are being opened from a position of accomplished victory.
This is absolutely essential.
If we interpret the seals as though the outcome is uncertain, we have ignored Revelation chapter five.
If we interpret the Four Horsemen as powers capable of overthrowing the Lamb, we have reversed the vision.
Before one horse moves:

This is one of the most beautiful unveilings in the entire book.
John hears:
THE LION.
John looks:
AND SEES A LAMB.
God is teaching us how His victory operates.
The Lion conquers as the Lamb.
Divine strength is revealed through sacrifice.
Victory comes through the cross.
Power is manifested through surrendered life.
The Lamb is standing.
He had been slain, but He is standing.
Death did not hold Him.
The grave did not hold Him.
The cross was not His defeat.
It was the manifestation of His victory.
Therefore, the One opening the seals is:
THE SLAIN LAMB WHO STANDS ALIVE IN THE MIDST OF THE THRONE.
That must govern every interpretation that follows.

Where is the Lamb?
IN THE MIDST OF THE THRONE.
He is not standing outside divine government.

The Lamb and divine government are not separate realities.
The One who gave Himself is the One who reigns.
The One who was slain is the One who administers.
The One who shed His blood is the One opening the book.
Therefore:
THE GOVERNMENT OF REVELATION IS THE GOVERNMENT OF THE LAMB.
SEVEN HORNS — COMPLETE POWER

In biblical imagery, a horn speaks of power and authority.
The Lamb has seven horns.
Complete power.
Full authority.
Nothing is lacking.
This is not a weak Lamb trying to survive the operations of Revelation.
This is the Lamb possessing complete authority.
When He opens a seal, He does so with authority.
When He sends an operation forth, it proceeds beneath His government.
The horsemen are not stronger than the Lamb.
Death is not stronger than the Lamb.
Hell is not stronger than the Lamb.
Babylon is not stronger than the Lamb.
The beast is not stronger than the Lamb.
The dragon is not stronger than the Lamb.
THE LAMB HAS SEVEN HORNS.
COMPLETE POWER BELONGS TO CHRIST.
SEVEN EYES — COMPLETE VISION

The Lamb not only possesses complete power.
He possesses complete vision.
Nothing is hidden from Him.
Nothing surprises Him.
Nothing occurs beyond His understanding.
Man sees fragments.
The Lamb sees the whole.
Man sees today.
The Lamb sees purpose.
Man sees crisis.
The Lamb sees completion.
This is why we must learn to interpret Revelation from His viewpoint rather than ours.
We see a red horse and panic.
He sees the entire book.
We see famine.
He sees the entire book.
We see death.
He sees the entire book.
THE LAMB KNOWS THE END FROM THE BEGINNING.
And He is the One opening the seals.
THE LAMB TAKES THE BOOK

“And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.”

This is the great transfer of administration.
The book is in the right hand of Him who sits upon the throne.
The Lamb comes.
The Lamb takes it.
He is worthy.
He has prevailed.
The eternal purpose of God is now seen in the hands of the victorious Christ.
This is why Jesus could declare after His resurrection:
“All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.”
The Lamb possesses the authority to administer the purpose of God.
THE BOOK IS NOW IN THE HANDS OF THE LAMB.
That means Revelation chapter six belongs to Him.
The first seal belongs to Him.
The second seal belongs to Him.
The third seal belongs to Him.
The fourth seal belongs to Him.
Every opening proceeds from His hand.
HEAVEN DOES NOT PANIC WHEN THE LAMB TAKES THE BOOK

“And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb…”

Look at heaven’s response.
Worship.
Not panic.
Not fear.
Not confusion.
When the Lamb takes the book, heaven does not cry:
Something terrible is about to happen!
Heaven falls down in worship.
Why?
Because the One worthy to bring God’s purpose into manifestation has taken the book.
The universe is not moving toward defeat.
It is moving under the administration of the Lamb.
This is the atmosphere in which the seals must be interpreted.
WORSHIP SURROUNDS THE OPENING.
THOU ART WORTHY

“And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof…”

Heaven understands what religion often misses.
The opening of the seals is connected to the worthiness of Christ.
Why is He worthy?
The verse continues:
“For thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood…”
The opening of the seals cannot be separated from redemption.
The One opening them is the Redeemer.
The One administering judgment is the Redeemer.
The One revealing hidden things is the Redeemer.
The One confronting deception is the Redeemer.
THE HAND OPENING THE SEALS IS A REDEEMING HAND.
That truth must never leave us.
REDEMPTION COMES BEFORE ADMINISTRATION

Notice the order.
He was slain.
Redemption was accomplished.
Then the seals are opened.
The seals do not open so Christ can attempt to obtain victory.
They open because victory has already been accomplished.
FINISHED WORK COMES BEFORE ADMINISTRATION.
Calvary establishes the victory.
Revelation unveils its administration.
The cross establishes the legal reality.
The Spirit brings that reality into living manifestation.
The throne governs the process until everything is brought into alignment with what Christ accomplished.
This is why Revelation does not contradict the Finished Work.
REVELATION SHOWS THE FINISHED WORK IN OPERATION.
KINGS AND PRIESTS ARE PART OF THE PURPOSE

“And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.”

The purpose of the Lamb is not merely to destroy enemies.
His purpose produces a people.
Kings.
Priests.
A royal priesthood.
A people who participate in His life and government.
This becomes important when we study the seals.
God’s operations are not merely external events happening somewhere in the world.
They work within a people.
They expose.
They separate.
They judge.
They purify.
They conquer.
They bring us from immaturity toward maturity.
From mixture toward purity.
From death toward life.
From earthly consciousness toward throne consciousness.
The Lamb is forming a people who reign in His nature.
MILLIONS OF VOICES DECLARE THE WORTHINESS OF THE LAMB

“Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.”
— Revelation 5:12

Everything points back to the Lamb.
Before the horsemen ride, heaven establishes the central truth:
WORTHY IS THE LAMB.
Not worthy is the beast.
Not worthy is Babylon.
Not worthy is the dragon.
Not worthy is death.
WORTHY IS THE LAMB.
This is why Jesus Christ must remain the center of our interpretation.
If we can explain every horse, every beast, every trumpet, every vial, every number, and every symbol but fail to unveil Christ, we have missed the Revelation.
It is His Revelation.
EVERY CREATURE MOVES TOWARD WORSHIP

“And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea… heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.”

Look at the direction of the vision.
Every creature.
Heaven.
Earth.
Under the earth.
Sea.
All are brought into a declaration of glory to God and the Lamb.
That is the atmosphere immediately before the first seal opens.
Therefore, we should never read Revelation chapter six as though Revelation chapter five did not exist.
Chapter five has already declared the destination.
THE LAMB IS WORTHY.
THE LAMB HAS PREVAILED.
THE LAMB HAS REDEEMED.
THE LAMB HAS TAKEN THE BOOK.
CREATION IS MOVING TOWARD THE ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF HIS GOVERNMENT.
Now the seals can open.
THE SEALED BOOK IS ABOUT TO SPEAK

Now we have arrived.
But notice how much Scripture had to establish before the first horse appeared.
We needed the throne.
We needed John in the Spirit.
We needed the book.
We needed the question of worthiness.
We needed John’s weeping.
We needed the Lion.
We needed the Lamb.
We needed the cross.
We needed redemption.
We needed the Lamb standing in the midst of the throne.
We needed the book transferred into His hand.
Only then could the first seal open.
That is divine order.
THRONE.
BOOK.
LAMB.
VICTORY.
REDEMPTION.
ADMINISTRATION.
OPENING.
And then—
A HORSE.
THE FIRST HORSE CANNOT BE SEPARATED FROM THE LAMB

This is the final truth we must carry into Chapter Four.
The first horse does not open the seal.
THE LAMB OPENS THE SEAL.
The rider does not take the book.
THE LAMB TAKES THE BOOK.
The horse does not determine the purpose.
THE PURPOSE IS ALREADY WRITTEN.
The operation does not begin in the earth.
IT BEGINS FROM THE THRONE.
Everything is now in place.
The throne is set.
The book is in the Lamb’s hand.
The Lamb has prevailed.
The first seal opens.
A voice sounds like thunder.
John looks.
And for the first time, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse comes into view.
A WHITE HORSE.
A RIDER.
A BOW.
A CROWN.
A CONQUEST.
And Scripture says:
“He went forth conquering, and to conquer.”
The question before us is no longer whether the Lamb is victorious.
That has already been settled.
The question is:
WHO IS THE RIDER UPON THE WHITE HORSE?
WHAT IS THE BOW?
WHAT IS THE CROWN?
AND WHAT KIND OF CONQUEST HAS JUST GONE FORTH FROM THE OPENING OF THE LAMB’S BOOK?
That is where the Four Horsemen truly begin.
CHAPTER FOUR
THE WHITE HORSE — GOING FORTH CONQUERING AND TO CONQUER
THE FIRST SEAL IS OPENED BY THE LAMB
SCRIPTURE
“And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals…”

TEACHING
The first thing we must remember is who opens the seal.
THE LAMB.
The white horse does not appear by accident.
The rider does not force his way into the vision.
The first horse comes forth because the Lamb opens the first seal.
That means the interpretation must remain connected to everything we established in the previous chapter.
The throne is set.
The book is in the Lamb’s hand.
The Lamb has prevailed.
The Lamb is worthy.
The Lamb opens the seal.
Then the horse appears.
THE HORSE COMES OUT OF AN OPENING CREATED BY THE LAMB.
That is our starting point.
THE VOICE SOUNDS LIKE THUNDER
SCRIPTURE
“And I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see.”
— Revelation 6:1
TEACHING
Before John sees the horse, he hears a voice.
And the voice is like thunder.
Thunder in Scripture is associated with divine voice, majesty, judgment, and authority.
This is not a quiet suggestion.
This is an authoritative unveiling.
John is being summoned to look.
COME AND SEE.
That phrase matters.
Revelation is an unveiling.
John is not told to guess.
He is told to see.
The seal is opened.
The voice sounds.
The vision appears.
And the first thing John sees is:
A WHITE HORSE.
BEHOLD, A WHITE HORSE

“And I saw, and behold a white horse…”

The color is the first detail given.
WHITE.
Throughout Scripture, white is repeatedly associated with righteousness, purity, victory, glory, and divine approval.
White garments appear throughout Revelation.
The overcomers are clothed in white.
The great multitude stands in white robes.
The Son of Man appears in brightness.
And later in Revelation, heaven opens again and another white horse appears.
Therefore, we cannot treat the color as incidental.
The white horse is carrying an operation marked by divine purity and victory.
This should immediately make us cautious about interpretations that automatically identify the first rider as an evil counterfeit.
The color itself points us in another direction.
WHITE GARMENTS SPEAK OF RIGHTEOUSNESS
SCRIPTURE
“He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment…”
— Revelation 3:5
TEACHING
White in Revelation repeatedly carries positive spiritual meaning.
It is connected with overcoming.
Purity.
Righteousness.
Victory.
Vindication.
That does not mean color alone determines the entire interpretation.
But it establishes the atmosphere of the symbol.
The first horse is not described as dark.
It is not red.
It is not pale.
It is white.
And Revelation itself has already taught us what white communicates.
WHITE SPEAKS OF A PURE OPERATION.
WHITE SPEAKS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS.
WHITE SPEAKS OF VICTORY.
THE RIDER SITS UPON THE HORSE

Now we must distinguish the horse from the rider.
The horse carries the operation.
The rider directs it.
The horse is power in motion.
The rider gives that power purpose.
The horse is white.
The rider carries a bow.
A crown is given to him.
And he goes forth conquering.
Every detail belongs together.
We are not interpreting isolated symbols.
We are interpreting one complete picture.
THE RIDER HAS A BOW
SCRIPTURE
“And he that sat on him had a bow…”
— Revelation 6:2
TEACHING
The bow is one of the most debated symbols in the first seal.
Many have assumed it must be a weapon of natural warfare.
But again, we must let Scripture interpret Scripture.
A bow can certainly function as a weapon.
But prophetic language often takes natural instruments and uses them to reveal spiritual operations.
We must ask:
WHAT KIND OF CONQUEST IS THIS?
WHAT KIND OF RIDER IS THIS?
WHAT KIND OF CROWN IS GIVEN?
WHAT DOES WHITE REVEAL?
We do not interpret the bow by itself.
We interpret it in the total revelation.
GOD’S BOW IS SEEN IN SCRIPTURE
SCRIPTURE
“I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.”
— Genesis 9:13
TEACHING
The first major biblical mention of the bow is not connected with destruction.
It is connected with covenant.
God sets His bow in the cloud.
The bow becomes a sign.
A token.
A testimony.
This is important.
A symbol can carry more than one natural association.
The bow is not automatically evil.
The bow is not automatically war.
Scripture itself associates the bow with divine covenant.
Therefore, when Revelation shows us a rider with a bow, we must not let human tradition interpret the image before Scripture has spoken.
THE ARROWS OF GOD
SCRIPTURE
“Thine arrows are sharp in the heart of the king’s enemies; whereby the people fall under thee.”
— Psalm 45:5
TEACHING
Now the bow begins to open prophetically.
Psalm 45 speaks of the King.
His arrows are sharp.
Where do they strike?
IN THE HEART.
This is not merely natural warfare.
This is conquest within men.
The King’s arrows penetrate inwardly.
They bring hearts under His government.
They cause resistance to fall.
This gives us a tremendous spiritual key.
THE CONQUEST OF CHRIST IS A CONQUEST OF THE HEART.
He does not merely conquer territory.
He conquers rebellion.
He conquers deception.
He conquers darkness.
He conquers the old nature.
He conquers everything that resists the reign of God.
THE WORD PIERCES
SCRIPTURE
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit…”

The weapons of divine government are not merely natural.
The Word penetrates.
The Word divides.
The Word exposes.
The Word judges.
The Word conquers.
When truth enters a man, deception loses ground.
When light enters, darkness cannot remain.
When Christ is revealed, the old man is brought under judgment.
This is conquest.
Not conquest by brutality.
Conquest by truth.
THE KING CONQUERS BY HIS WORD.
CHRIST CAME TO DESTROY THE WORKS OF THE DEVIL

“For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.”

Christ is a conqueror.
That is not a foreign idea.
His manifestation itself is connected with destruction of the devil’s works.
Sin.
Death.
Deception.
Bondage.
Condemnation.
Fear.
Darkness.
The old order.
Everything contrary to God comes under the conquest of Christ.
Therefore, when Revelation shows us a rider going forth conquering, we are not entering unfamiliar territory.
We are seeing the nature of Christ’s victory carried forward in prophetic language.
A CROWN WAS GIVEN UNTO HIM
SCRIPTURE
“And a crown was given unto him…”
— Revelation 6:2

The rider is not crowned by self-appointment.
The crown is given.
That means authority is bestowed.
The rider operates under granted authority.
The crown speaks of kingship.
Government.
Victory.
Rule.
The presence of the crown strengthens the picture.
The rider is not simply fighting.
HE IS GOVERNING.
The conquest is royal.
The operation is kingly.
This is not merely violence.
It is administration under authority.
CHRIST IS CROWNED
SCRIPTURE
“But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour…”
— Hebrews 2:9
TEACHING
Jesus is crowned.
The language of the crown belongs to His victory.
He suffered.
He overcame.
He was raised.
He was exalted.
He was crowned.
So when the first rider appears with a crown, the imagery harmonizes with the larger revelation of Christ.
The crown speaks of authority already established.
THE RIDER DOES NOT GO FORTH SEEKING A CROWN.
HE GOES FORTH WITH AUTHORITY ALREADY GIVEN.
That is the same pattern we saw in the Lamb.
Victory first.
Administration second.
HE WENT FORTH

We saw this language in Zechariah.
The spirits of the heavens go forth from standing before the Lord.
Now the first rider goes forth.
This is not static revelation.
This is movement.
Something is being carried from divine government into active operation.
The rider goes forth.
The conquest begins to move.
Truth advances.
Light advances.
The reign of Christ advances.
The horse carries the operation outward.
THIS IS THE KINGDOM IN MOTION.
CONQUERING
SCRIPTURE
“And he went forth conquering…”

The word is active.
CONQUERING.
Not waiting.
Not retreating.
Not uncertain.
Conquering.
Christ’s victory is not passive.
It is administered.
The finished work is complete in Christ, but its reality is brought into manifestation through divine operation.
This is where many people become confused.
They ask:
If Christ finished the work, why is conquest still happening?
Because what is finished in Christ must be manifested in creation.
The legal victory is complete.
The vital outworking continues until everything comes into alignment with that victory.
REVELATION SHOWS THE ADMINISTRATION OF WHAT CHRIST FINISHED.
The white horse goes forth conquering.
AND TO CONQUER
SCRIPTURE
“And to conquer.”

The rider is not merely describing a past victory.
The operation continues.
CONQUERING AND TO CONQUER.
There is progression.
There is unfolding manifestation.
There is an ongoing administration of victory.
The purpose of God moves from what has been accomplished in Christ toward what must be revealed in a people and in creation.
The Lamb has prevailed.
Now that victory goes forth.
This does not mean Christ lacked victory before.
It means victory is being brought into manifestation.
FIRST THE KINGDOM MUST CONQUER WITHIN
SCRIPTURE
“The kingdom of God is within you.”

The conquest of Christ begins within.
Before the Kingdom governs outwardly, it must govern inwardly.
The first battlefield is the heart.
The mind.
The will.
The nature.
The old Adamic consciousness.
Christ conquers false identity.
He conquers fear.
He conquers unbelief.
He conquers self-rule.
He conquers the mind that is hostile to God.
He conquers everything within us that resists His life.
THE WHITE HORSE RIDES THROUGH THE INNER LAND FIRST.
This is where the conquest becomes personal.
EVERY THOUGHT BROUGHT INTO CAPTIVITY

“Bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”

Here is conquest language.
Captivity.
Obedience.
Strongholds.
Weapons.
But Paul is not describing natural warfare.
He is describing spiritual warfare in the mind.
Wrong thoughts are conquered.
False imaginations are cast down.
Every high thing exalting itself against the knowledge of God is brought low.
This is kingdom conquest.
CHRIST CONQUERS BY TRUTH.
The white horse can therefore be understood as an operation of righteous conquest proceeding from the authority of the Lamb.
OUR WEAPONS ARE NOT CARNAL

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds.”

This verse keeps us from reducing the white horse to natural military conquest.
The Kingdom does not advance by fleshly weapons.
The conquest of Christ is spiritual.
Truth conquers lies.
Light conquers darkness.
Life conquers death.
Grace conquers condemnation.
Faith conquers unbelief.
The Spirit conquers the carnal mind.
The Word conquers deception.
THIS IS THE NATURE OF DIVINE CONQUEST.
THE GOSPEL GOES FORTH CONQUERING

“Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”

The Gospel itself moves.
It goes forth.
It crosses boundaries.
It enters nations.
It enters homes.
It enters hearts.
It overturns old systems of thought.
It brings men out of darkness.
It reveals Christ.
The Gospel is not weak.
Paul called it:
THE POWER OF GOD UNTO SALVATION.
That is conquest.
Not conquest through coercion.
Conquest through revelation.
Christ takes ground wherever truth displaces deception.
THE GOSPEL IS THE POWER OF GOD

The Gospel carries power.
The white horse carries power.
The rider goes forth.
The operation conquers.
This gives us a beautiful picture.
The conquest of Christ is not merely a future military event.
The Gospel has been conquering for generations.
Truth has entered men.
Lives have changed.
Strongholds have fallen.
Nations have been affected.
The name of Jesus has gone into the earth.
The Word has advanced.
THE WHITE HORSE HAS THE LANGUAGE OF A VICTORIOUS GOSPEL.
CHRIST RIDES A WHITE HORSE AGAIN

“And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True…”

Now Revelation interprets Revelation.
Later in the same book, John sees heaven opened.
Again:
A WHITE HORSE.
This time the rider is clearly identified.
Faithful.
True.
Righteous in judgment.
The Word of God.
This creates a powerful connection with the first seal.
We should be careful not to force every detail into exact duplication.
But Revelation itself shows us that a white horse can carry the victorious administration of Christ.
That fact cannot be ignored.
HIS NAME IS THE WORD OF GOD
SCRIPTURE
“And his name is called The Word of God.”

TEACHING
Now the nature of Christ’s conquest becomes unmistakable.
The rider is connected to the Word.
The same Word that pierces.
The same Word that judges.
The same Word that divides.
The same Word that brings light.
The same Word that exposes darkness.
The same Word that brings life.
CHRIST CONQUERS BY THE WORD.
This harmonizes beautifully with the bow and arrows striking the heart.
The conquest is spiritual.
The target is inward.
The weapon is truth.
THE KING RIDES PROSPEROUSLY
SCRIPTURE
“And in thy majesty ride prosperously because of truth and meekness and righteousness…”
— Psalm 45:4
TEACHING
Here is one of the clearest Old Testament pictures of the King riding.
Why does He ride?
BECAUSE OF TRUTH.
MEEKNESS.
RIGHTEOUSNESS.
This is not a rider defined by cruelty.
This is a rider defined by divine character.
He rides prosperously.
He advances.
His arrows penetrate hearts.
His throne is established.
The whole Psalm carries royal conquest.
When we compare this with Revelation 6, the language begins to speak.
WHITE HORSE.
RIDER.
BOW.
CROWN.
CONQUEST.
The pattern is royal.
The operation is righteous.
TRUTH MUST CONQUER THE LIE
SCRIPTURE
“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
— John 8:32
TEACHING
Truth conquers bondage.
Where truth enters, lies lose authority.
Where Christ is revealed, deception collapses.
Where light shines, darkness is exposed.
Where the Gospel is received, old identity loses its claim.
This is conquest without carnal violence.
This is the conquest of the Lamb.
HE CONQUERS BY REVEALING WHAT IS TRUE.
The white horse is therefore not a picture designed primarily to terrify.
It reveals victorious divine movement.
LIGHT SHINES IN DARKNESS
SCRIPTURE
“And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.”
— John 1:5
TEACHING
Light does not negotiate with darkness.
It simply shines.
Darkness has no independent substance capable of overcoming light.
Once light appears, darkness loses its place.
That is conquest.
Christ is light.
Truth is light.
Revelation is light.
The opening of the seals brings hidden things into the light.
The first operation therefore begins with victorious revelation.
LIGHT GOES FORTH.
TRUTH GOES FORTH.
CHRIST GOES FORTH.
CONQUERING AND TO CONQUER.
THE FIRST HORSE SETS THE DIRECTION

“Behold a white horse…”
— Revelation 6:2
TEACHING
The first horse matters because first things establish direction.
Before red appears, white appears.
Before black appears, white appears.
Before pale appears, white appears.
The progression begins with conquest.
This means the later operations should not be interpreted outside the victory established by the first.
The red horse does not overthrow the white horse.
The black horse does not cancel the white horse.
The pale horse does not defeat the white horse.
The first declaration is conquest.
VICTORY GOES FIRST.
CHRIST MUST REIGN
SCRIPTURE
“For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:25
TEACHING
This is the destination of the conquest.
Christ reigns until every enemy is placed under His feet.
Sin.
Death.
Deception.
The carnal mind.
Every false government.
Every lie.
Every power contrary to life.
The white horse is part of that administration.
The rider goes forth conquering.
The reign advances.
The purpose unfolds.
CHRIST MUST REIGN.
THE LAST ENEMY IS DEATH

“The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:26
TEACHING
This verse becomes especially important when we later reach the pale horse.
Death appears as a rider in Revelation 6.
But Scripture has already declared death’s destiny.
DEATH IS AN ENEMY.
AND DEATH WILL BE DESTROYED.
Therefore, the pale horse cannot be the final word.
The white horse establishes the direction.
Conquest is going forth.
Ultimately even death itself must bow to the victory of Christ.
THE WHITE HORSE IS THE BEGINNING OF THE OPENING

The first seal sets the pattern.
The Lamb opens.
The voice calls.
John sees.
The white horse appears.
The rider carries a bow.
A crown is given.
He goes forth conquering and to conquer.
Everything speaks of movement from victory.
THE LAMB HAS PREVAILED.
NOW VICTORY GOES FORTH.
This is the beginning of the Four Horsemen.
Not fear.
Not defeat.
Not abandonment.
CONQUEST.
BUT CONQUEST BRINGS SEPARATION
SCRIPTURE
“Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.”
— Matthew 10:34
TEACHING
Here we arrive at the doorway to the second horse.
Truth brings conquest.
But truth also brings division.
When light enters, it separates light from darkness.
When the Word comes, it divides soul and spirit.
When Christ is revealed, false peace can no longer remain undisturbed.
The first horse conquers.
The second horse reveals what happens when truth confronts mixture.
Peace is taken from the earth.
A great sword appears.
Men turn against one another.
What does that mean?
Is Revelation describing nothing more than natural war?
Or is a deeper spiritual operation being unveiled?
We now have enough foundation to ask the question correctly.
The white horse has gone forth.
Truth is moving.
The King is conquering.
And wherever truth enters, false peace is disturbed.
NEXT COMES THE RED HORSE.
PEACE IS TAKEN FROM THE EARTH.
AND A GREAT SWORD IS GIVEN TO THE RIDER.
CHAPTER FIVE
THE RED HORSE — PEACE TAKEN FROM THE EARTH
THE SECOND SEAL IS OPENED
SCRIPTURE
“And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see.”
— Revelation 6:3
TEACHING
The second horse does not come forth independently.
Once again:
THE LAMB OPENS THE SEAL.
That must remain our foundation.
The same Lamb who opened the first seal opens the second.
The same throne stands behind the operation.
The same book is being unveiled.
The same divine purpose is moving forward.
The first horse came forth white.
The second horse comes forth red.
The first rider went forth conquering.
Now another operation appears.
This means the red horse must be understood as part of the same unfolding administration.
Not a separate revelation.
Not an unrelated catastrophe.
ONE BOOK.
ONE LAMB.
ONE OPENING.
ONE DIVINE PURPOSE.
ANOTHER HORSE WENT OUT
SCRIPTURE
“And there went out another horse that was red…”
— Revelation 6:4
TEACHING
John sees another horse.
The language again is movement.
IT WENT OUT.
The horse is not standing still.
Something is moving.
Something is being administered.
Something is being carried into operation.
The first horse went forth conquering.
The second horse now goes forth with another function.
This is why we must not interpret the colors in isolation.
There is progression.
The white horse establishes conquest.
The red horse follows.
What happens when truth begins conquering?
What happens when light enters darkness?
What happens when the Word penetrates a realm built upon mixture?
FALSE PEACE IS DISTURBED.
That begins to open the meaning of the red horse.
THE HORSE IS RED
SCRIPTURE
“Another horse that was red…”
— Revelation 6:4
TEACHING
The color changes.
White gives way to red.
Red is a powerful biblical color.
It can speak of blood.
War.
Flesh.
Sin.
Judgment.
Earthiness.
Violence.
Life poured out.
The symbol must be interpreted by context.
But we immediately recognize that the atmosphere has changed.
The first horse carried the color of purity and victory.
The second horse carries the color of conflict.
Something is being confronted.
Something is being divided.
Something is being exposed.
The red horse reveals what happens when conquest meets resistance.
RED IS CONNECTED TO ADAM
SCRIPTURE
“And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground…”
— Genesis 2:7
TEACHING
The name Adam is closely connected with the ground and with redness.
Adam came from the earth.
He represents the earthly man.
The first man.
The natural order.
The fleshly realm.
This gives us a deeper way to consider the red horse.
The operation of the red horse touches the earth.
And the earth, throughout prophetic Scripture, can speak of more than dirt beneath our feet.
It can speak of an earthly realm of consciousness.
The Adamic order.
The natural man.
The realm below the heavens.
Therefore, when peace is taken from the earth, we should ask whether God is unveiling more than international warfare.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN CHRIST CONFRONTS THE ADAMIC ORDER?
That question takes us much deeper.
THE FIRST MAN IS OF THE EARTH
SCRIPTURE
“The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:47
TEACHING
Here Paul gives us two men.
The first man:
OF THE EARTH.
The second man:
THE LORD FROM HEAVEN.
This establishes a tremendous biblical contrast.
Earth.
Heaven.
Adam.
Christ.
Natural.
Spiritual.
Old creation.
New creation.
Therefore, when Revelation speaks of operations taking place in the earth, we must remain open to this spiritual dimension.
The earth can signify the realm of the first man.
The realm of flesh.
The realm of natural understanding.
The realm where Adamic consciousness governs.
And the revelation of Christ disturbs that realm.
PEACE IS TAKEN FROM THE EARTH
SCRIPTURE
“And power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth…”
— Revelation 6:4
TEACHING
This is the central statement of the second seal.
PEACE IS TAKEN FROM THE EARTH.
We need to ask what kind of peace is being removed.
Not every peace is the peace of God.
There can be a false peace.
A peace built upon blindness.
A peace built upon compromise.
A peace built upon mixture.
A peace that exists only because truth has not yet entered.
When the white horse goes forth conquering, truth begins to expose what was hidden.
Then false peace cannot remain.
TRUTH DISTURBS MIXTURE.
LIGHT DISTURBS DARKNESS.
CHRIST DISTURBS THE OLD ORDER.
This is not destruction for destruction’s sake.
It is divine separation.
JESUS SAID HE CAME WITH A SWORD

“Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.”

TEACHING
These words of Jesus are startling.
The Prince of Peace says:
I CAME NOT TO SEND PEACE, BUT A SWORD.
How can that be?
Because there is a difference between divine peace and false peace.
Jesus does not destroy true peace.
He destroys the peace that exists through compromise with darkness.
Truth divides.
Truth separates.
Truth exposes.
Truth makes a distinction between what is of God and what is not.
Therefore, when Revelation says peace is taken from the earth, the language is consistent with the ministry of Christ Himself.
THE WORD DIVIDES
SCRIPTURE
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword…”
— Hebrews 4:12
TEACHING
The sword appears again.
And Scripture tells us exactly what it can represent.
THE WORD OF GOD.
The Word divides.
Soul and spirit.
Joints and marrow.
Thoughts and intents.
The Word penetrates beneath appearances.
It exposes what mixture tries to keep hidden.
This means the sword of the red horse does not have to be reduced to natural military violence.
There is a deeper operation.
THE WORD BRINGS DIVISION WHERE MIXTURE ONCE PRODUCED FALSE PEACE.
TRUTH CREATES A CRISIS IN THE OLD ORDER
SCRIPTURE
“For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.”
— John 3:20
TEACHING
Light creates conflict wherever darkness wants to remain.
This is why truth often feels like disturbance before it produces peace.
A lie can live quietly until truth arrives.
A religious system can appear stable until Christ is unveiled.
A false identity can feel secure until the Word exposes it.
The red horse reveals this crisis.
The issue is not that Christ loves conflict.
The issue is that truth and deception cannot remain permanently at peace.
LIGHT AND DARKNESS CANNOT SHARE THE SAME THRONE.
WHAT FELLOWSHIP HATH LIGHT WITH DARKNESS?

“And what communion hath light with darkness?”
— 2 Corinthians 6:14
TEACHING
There must be separation.
The Kingdom of God does not preserve mixture forever.
Christ does not make peace with the old man.
Spirit does not negotiate eternal coexistence with flesh.
Truth does not sign a treaty with deception.
At some point, the sword must divide.
That is the operation of the red horse.
The first horse conquers.
The second horse separates.
CONQUEST PRODUCES DIVISION.
THEY SHOULD KILL ONE ANOTHER
SCRIPTURE
“And that they should kill one another…”
— Revelation 6:4
TEACHING
This is strong language.
And it has often been interpreted only as natural slaughter.
Certainly the imagery can manifest in outward conflict.
But again, we must ask what the Spirit is revealing.
The phrase speaks of an order turning against itself.
A divided kingdom cannot stand.
When truth enters a false system, internal contradiction appears.
What once seemed unified begins to break apart.
The old order devours itself.
Its own conflict becomes part of its judgment.
This principle appears throughout Scripture.
A KINGDOM DIVIDED CANNOT STAND
SCRIPTURE
“Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand.”
— Matthew 12:25
TEACHING
Jesus gives us the principle.
Division reveals instability.
When a system is exposed, its internal contradictions surface.
This is not merely about nations.
It applies to religious systems.
Mental strongholds.
False identities.
Adamic structures.
Anything not founded in Christ eventually comes into conflict with itself.
The red horse reveals that loss of false unity.
THE SWORD IS GIVEN
SCRIPTURE
“And there was given unto him a great sword.”
— Revelation 6:4
TEACHING
Again, notice the wording.
IT WAS GIVEN.
The rider does not seize authority.
Authority is granted.
Just as the crown was given to the rider on the white horse, the sword is given to the rider on the red horse.
This shows administration.
Permission.
Government.
The operation is not lawless.
The great sword serves a purpose.
And throughout Scripture, the sword frequently represents judgment through truth.
THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT
SCRIPTURE
“And the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”
— Ephesians 6:17
TEACHING
Paul removes the mystery.
The sword of the Spirit is:
THE WORD OF GOD.
This should immediately affect how we read Revelation.
A great sword can speak of a powerful administration of the Word.
The Word exposes.
The Word judges.
The Word separates.
The Word destroys lies.
The Word cuts away mixture.
The Word pierces the heart.
The operation can be painful because truth is uncompromising.
But its purpose is not meaningless destruction.
ITS PURPOSE IS DIVINE ORDER.
THE SWORD PROCEEDS FROM CHRIST’S MOUTH
SCRIPTURE
“And out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword…”
— Revelation 1:16
TEACHING
Revelation itself interprets the sword.
Where does Christ’s sword come from?
HIS MOUTH.
This is not a natural weapon.
It is His Word.
His declaration.
His truth.
His judgment.
His authority.
This becomes one of the strongest reasons not to interpret the red horse’s sword merely as military warfare.
The prophetic language of Revelation has already associated the sword with the mouth of Christ.
HE FIGHTS WITH THE SWORD OF HIS MOUTH
SCRIPTURE
“Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.”
— Revelation 2:16
TEACHING
Again the sword is connected to His mouth.
Christ fights with truth.
He confronts error.
He exposes mixture.
He judges false doctrine.
He brings correction.
This is exactly the kind of operation we should expect from the red horse.
The white horse goes forth conquering by truth.
Then the red horse reveals the dividing effect of that truth.
I CAME TO SET A MAN AT VARIANCE
SCRIPTURE
“For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother…”
— Matthew 10:35
TEACHING
Jesus continues the thought of the sword.
Truth creates separation.
Not because God’s goal is division forever, but because true unity cannot be built on falsehood.
Before there can be genuine peace, the lie must be exposed.
Before there can be union in Christ, the old order must lose its authority.
Before Zion can stand, Babylon must be uncovered.
GOD DOES NOT PRESERVE FALSE PEACE TO AVOID CONFLICT.
He brings truth.
And truth separates.
THE RED HORSE EXPOSES MIXTURE
SCRIPTURE
“A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.”
— Galatians 5:9
TEACHING
Mixture is dangerous because it creates the appearance of unity.
A little law mixed with grace.
A little flesh mixed with Spirit.
A little Babylon mixed with Zion.
A little Adam mixed with Christ.
The red horse exposes this mixture.
The sword makes distinction.
It separates what man has joined together.
This is judgment unto purity.
JUDGMENT BEGINS AT THE HOUSE OF GOD

“For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God…”
— 1 Peter 4:17
TEACHING
The red horse should not make us first look at the world.
Judgment begins in God’s house.
Truth first confronts us.
Our thinking.
Our theology.
Our motives.
Our identities.
Our mixtures.
The sword works inwardly before we use it to explain outward events.
This keeps Revelation personal.
It prevents us from turning prophecy into a tool for judging everyone else while escaping its operation ourselves.
THE SWORD PIERCES THE SOUL
SCRIPTURE
“Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also…”
— Luke 2:35
TEACHING
The sword works inwardly.
It exposes.
It penetrates.
It brings hidden things to light.
This is why the red horse can be uncomfortable.
We like conquest when it is directed against our enemies.
We do not always like conquest when the Word begins dividing things within us.
Yet divine judgment is mercy.
God exposes what cannot remain so that Christ can be fully formed.
PEACE WITH GOD IS NOT THE PEACE OF THE EARTH
SCRIPTURE
“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
— Romans 5:1
TEACHING
This distinction is important.
The red horse takes peace from the earth.
But Christ gives peace with God.
These are not contradictions.
Earthly peace built upon Adam can be shaken while spiritual peace in Christ becomes stronger.
The old man loses peace.
The new man discovers peace.
The flesh becomes unsettled.
The Spirit rests in God.
THE PEACE GOD REMOVES IS NOT THE PEACE CHRIST GIVES.
MY PEACE I GIVE UNTO YOU

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth…”

TEACHING
Jesus makes the distinction clearly.
MY PEACE.
NOT AS THE WORLD GIVETH.
There is worldly peace.
And there is Christ’s peace.
The red horse confronts the first.
The Kingdom establishes the second.
This means God may disturb one kind of peace in order to reveal another.
He may shake what we trusted.
He may expose what we leaned upon.
He may disrupt false security.
But He does so to establish us in Christ.
THE EARTH MUST BE SHAKEN
SCRIPTURE
“Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.”
— Hebrews 12:26
TEACHING
Shaking is part of divine administration.
Why?
So that what cannot be shaken may remain.
God does not shake for amusement.
He shakes to reveal what is eternal.
The red horse participates in that principle.
False peace is removed.
Mixture is exposed.
Old structures turn against themselves.
The sword divides.
The purpose is not chaos.
THE PURPOSE IS AN UNSHAKABLE KINGDOM.
WE RECEIVE A KINGDOM WHICH CANNOT BE MOVED

“Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace…”

This is the destination.
God shakes what can be shaken.
He establishes what cannot be shaken.
The red horse is not the final word.
Division is not the final word.
The sword is not the final word.
The Kingdom is.
True peace comes after false peace is exposed.
True unity comes after mixture is separated.
True life comes after death is brought under judgment.
THE RED HORSE WORKS IN A PEOPLE
SCRIPTURE
“Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.”

Sanctification means separation unto God.
How does it happen?
THROUGH TRUTH.
That is red-horse language in operation.
The Word separates us from what is false.
It separates Christ from Adam in our understanding.
Grace from law.
Spirit from flesh.
Zion from Babylon.
Life from death.
Truth from tradition.
This is not merely theology.
It is an inward work.
TRUTH DOES NOT LEAVE US IN MIXTURE
SCRIPTURE
“Ye cannot serve God and mammon.”
— Matthew 6:24
TEACHING
There comes a point when mixture must end.
Two masters cannot remain.
Two governments cannot permanently share the same throne.
The red horse brings that issue to the surface.
Truth forces a decision.
What will govern?
Christ or Adam?
Spirit or flesh?
Zion or Babylon?
Grace or law?
Life or death?
The sword draws the line.
THE SECOND HORSE FOLLOWS THE FIRST FOR A REASON
SCRIPTURE
“And there went out another horse that was red…”
— Revelation 6:4
TEACHING
The order matters.
White comes first.
Red comes second.
First truth goes forth conquering.
Then truth disturbs false peace.
First light enters.
Then darkness reacts.
First Christ is revealed.
Then mixture is exposed.
This is a spiritual progression.
REVELATION.
CONFRONTATION.
SEPARATION.
The red horse is therefore not a random outbreak of destruction.
It is part of the administration of the opening.
PEACE MUST GIVE WAY TO TRUTH
SCRIPTURE
“And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.”
— Isaiah 32:17
TEACHING
True peace comes from righteousness.
That means any peace built without righteousness cannot last.
God is not against peace.
He is establishing true peace.
But before true peace can govern, false peace must be removed.
The red horse clears the ground.
The sword exposes.
Truth separates.
Righteousness establishes.
Then peace comes on a foundation that cannot be shaken.
THE RED HORSE IS NOT THE END
SCRIPTURE
“Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end…”
— Isaiah 9:7

This is where we must keep the whole counsel of God.
The red horse takes peace from the earth.
But the Kingdom produces peace without end.
Therefore, the removal of peace is temporary and purposeful.
It is part of transition.
A false order is being judged.
A true order is being established.
The Lamb is not trying to produce everlasting conflict.
He is bringing creation into the government of the Prince of Peace.
THE GREAT SWORD PREPARES THE WAY FOR MEASUREMENT

The second horse separates.
But once separation occurs, something else must happen.
What is genuine?
What is false?
What is wheat?
What is barley?
What has value?
What is being measured?
What is scarce?
What must be preserved?
This brings us directly to the third seal.
The white horse conquers.
The red horse separates.
Then comes:
THE BLACK HORSE.
A rider appears with balances in his hand.
A voice speaks of wheat.
Barley.
A measure.
A penny.
Oil.
Wine.
Now the divine administration moves from conquest and separation into measurement.
THE LAMB OPENS THE THIRD SEAL.
THE BLACK HORSE COMES FORTH.
AND THE BALANCES APPEAR.
CHAPTER SIX
THE BLACK HORSE — THE BALANCES, THE FAMINE, AND THE MEASURE
THE THIRD SEAL IS OPENED

“And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see.”

The pattern continues.
The Lamb opens the seal.
The voice calls.
John looks.
Another horse comes forth.
The white horse revealed conquest.
The red horse revealed separation.
Now the black horse introduces another operation:
MEASUREMENT.
WEIGHT.
VALUE.
SCARCITY.
DISCERNMENT.
The first horse goes forth conquering.
The second horse takes peace from the earth and carries a great sword.
The third horse now appears with balances.
This is not random.
There is progression.
CONQUEST.
SEPARATION.
MEASUREMENT.
God is bringing things into divine order.
BEHOLD, A BLACK HORSE
SCRIPTURE
“And I beheld, and lo a black horse…”
— Revelation 6:5
TEACHING
The color changes again.
White.
Red.
Now black.
Black in Scripture is often associated with darkness, mourning, famine, affliction, and the absence of light.
The black horse carries us into a realm where something has become scarce.
Something must be weighed.
Something must be measured.
Something is being tested for value.
The rider carries balances.
That detail gives us the key.
THE RIDER HAS BALANCES IN HIS HAND

The rider is carrying scales.
Balances speak of weighing.
Measurement.
Judgment.
Equity.
Value.
A balance determines whether something meets the standard.
This is not merely economic language.
Balances appear throughout Scripture as a symbol of divine judgment.
God weighs.
God measures.
God tests.
God distinguishes.
After truth conquers and the sword separates, the balances reveal what remains.
WHAT HAS WEIGHT?
WHAT HAS VALUE?
WHAT IS GENUINE?
WHAT IS EMPTY?
This is the work of the third horse.
GOD WEIGHS ACTIONS
SCRIPTURE
“For the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.”

TEACHING
God weighs.
That is biblical language.
He does not judge according to appearance.
He weighs the heart.
The motive.
The action.
The substance.
The black horse therefore brings us into an administration of divine measurement.
This is deeper than money.
This is deeper than commerce.
God is determining substance.
WHAT IS REAL?
WHAT IS MERELY APPEARANCE?
THOU ART WEIGHED IN THE BALANCES

“TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.”

TEACHING
Here the meaning becomes unmistakable.
Balances are judgment language.
Belshazzar’s kingdom was weighed.
And it was found wanting.
This same principle appears in Revelation.
The rider carries balances because something is being weighed.
A system can look powerful and still be light in the balances of God.
A religion can look impressive and still be found wanting.
A man can carry reputation and still lack spiritual substance.
The balances reveal truth.
A FALSE BALANCE IS ABOMINATION

“A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight.”

God demands true measurement.
Man uses false balances.
God uses just balances.
Man measures success by numbers.
God measures substance.
Man measures by appearance.
God measures the heart.
Man measures by reputation.
God measures truth.
The black horse exposes false valuation.
It brings everything to the scales of divine judgment.
WEIGHED BY THE WORD

The same Word that divided under the red horse now reveals what has substance.
The Word becomes the standard.
Not tradition.
Not human opinion.
Not religious popularity.
Not what the world celebrates.
THE WORD IS THE MEASURE.
What agrees with Christ has weight.
What belongs to Adam is exposed.
What is Spirit has substance.
What is flesh is found wanting.
This is why divine measurement is necessary.
A MEASURE OF WHEAT FOR A PENNY

“And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny…”

Now the language moves from balances to grain.
Wheat.
Measurement.
Price.
Value.
Again, we should not rush immediately into natural economics.
Wheat has a long biblical history.
Jesus used wheat prophetically.
The prophets used grain prophetically.
Bread itself becomes spiritual language throughout Scripture.
The black horse is showing us measured provision.
Something valuable is being rationed.
Something that should be abundant has become scarce.
That is famine language.
MAN SHALL NOT LIVE BY BREAD ALONE

“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”

TEACHING
Bread is not merely bread.
Jesus establishes the deeper reality.
Natural bread sustains the body.
The Word sustains spiritual life.
This immediately opens the black horse beyond literal food shortage.
A famine can exist where grocery stores are full.
A famine can exist where churches are full.
A famine can exist where sermons are abundant.
If the pure Word is scarce, there is famine.
A FAMINE OF HEARING THE WORD
SCRIPTURE
“Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD.”

TEACHING
There is the prophetic key.
God Himself defines a spiritual famine.
NOT A FAMINE OF BREAD.
NOT A THIRST FOR WATER.
A FAMINE OF HEARING THE WORD OF THE LORD.
This changes how we approach Revelation 6.
The black horse may certainly have outward manifestations.
But its deepest prophetic meaning cannot be reduced to empty shelves.
The greater famine is when truth becomes scarce.
When the pure Word is difficult to find.
When men are surrounded by religion but starving for revelation.
MANY WORDS — LITTLE BREAD
SCRIPTURE
“Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not?”

TEACHING
It is possible to consume much and remain hungry.
Much teaching.
Much religion.
Much activity.
Much information.
Yet little bread.
Why?
Because only that which comes from God satisfies the inner man.
The black horse reveals this condition.
The balances are in operation.
What has true value?
What actually feeds?
What gives life?
CHRIST IS THE BREAD OF LIFE

“And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life…”

The true bread is Christ.
This means the deepest famine is a famine of Christ being truly revealed.
A man can know prophecy and still be hungry.
He can know doctrine and still be hungry.
He can know religious systems and still be hungry.
If Christ is not being revealed, there is famine.
CHRIST IS THE BREAD.
The black horse therefore confronts everything that substitutes for Him.
WHEAT SPEAKS OF LIFE

“Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone…”

TEACHING
Jesus compared Himself to a grain of wheat.
The wheat falls into the ground.
It dies.
It brings forth much fruit.
Wheat therefore carries resurrection language.
Life through death.
Multiplication.
Christ manifested in many.
The black horse weighs and measures wheat because the issue is life.
How much true life is present?
How much Christ has been formed?
How much substance remains when everything false is weighed?
THREE MEASURES OF BARLEY
SCRIPTURE
“And three measures of barley for a penny…”
— Revelation 6:6
TEACHING
Barley also carries rich biblical meaning.
Barley was associated with harvest.
Firstfruits.
Provision.
The feeding of multitudes.
Jesus multiplied barley loaves.
The prophetic language again points beyond economics.
Wheat and barley are both measured.
The balances reveal scarcity and value.
The question becomes:
WHAT KIND OF FOOD IS FEEDING THE PEOPLE?
WHAT KIND OF WORD IS BEING MEASURED OUT?
JESUS FED THE MULTITUDE WITH BARLEY

“There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes…”

Barley became the substance Christ multiplied.
What seemed small became enough.
This teaches us something.
In God’s hands, true bread multiplies.
Famine is not caused because Christ lacks provision.
The problem is not divine scarcity.
The problem is man’s inability to receive, recognize, or distribute what God has given.
The black horse exposes this condition.
A PENNY SPEAKS OF VALUE AND LABOR
SCRIPTURE
“A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny…”
— Revelation 6:6
TEACHING
The penny represented a day’s wage in the world of the New Testament.
That creates an image of severe restriction.
A full day’s labor for a small measure of food.
Spiritually, this speaks of a realm where men labor much and receive little nourishment.
That is religion without revelation.
Much effort.
Little life.
Much labor.
Little bread.
Much activity.
Little Christ.
The black horse weighs that system.
LABOR NOT FOR THE MEAT WHICH PERISHETH

“Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life…”

Jesus redirects labor.
Men spend enormous energy pursuing what cannot satisfy.
The black horse reveals the futility of laboring under a system that gives little true bread.
Christ calls us to another table.
Another food.
Another source.
THE MEAT THAT ENDURETH UNTO EVERLASTING LIFE.
HURT NOT THE OIL AND THE WINE
SCRIPTURE
“And see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.”

Now we come to one of the most important statements in the third seal.
Wheat is measured.
Barley is measured.
Famine is present.
But a command goes forth:
HURT NOT THE OIL AND THE WINE.
Something is preserved.
Something cannot be destroyed.
This is a tremendous revelation.
Even in famine, God preserves oil and wine.
The operation has limits.
The judgment does not destroy everything.
The essential life of God remains.
OIL SPEAKS OF ANOINTING
SCRIPTURE
“But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you…”
— 1 John 2:27
TEACHING
Oil throughout Scripture is connected with anointing.
Priests were anointed with oil.
Kings were anointed with oil.
Oil speaks of the Spirit.
The anointing.
Divine enablement.
So when the command says:
HURT NOT THE OIL,
we see preservation of the Spirit’s operation.
Man may create famine.
Religion may ration bread.
Truth may become scarce.
But the Spirit cannot be destroyed.
THE SPIRIT CANNOT BE BOUND
SCRIPTURE
“Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”
— 2 Corinthians 3:17
TEACHING
Systems can restrict men.
Religion can control access.
Tradition can suppress revelation.
But the Spirit remains free.
This is good news inside the black horse.
Judgment is operating.
Measurement is occurring.
Famine is exposed.
But oil remains.
THE ANOINTING REMAINS.
WINE SPEAKS OF JOY AND LIFE
SCRIPTURE
“And wine that maketh glad the heart of man…”
— Psalm 104:15
TEACHING
Wine speaks of joy.
Celebration.
Covenant.
Life poured out.
Jesus made wine at Cana.
He used the cup to speak of covenant.
Wine carries the thought of life released.
So the command:
HURT NOT THE WINE
shows that divine life and joy are not ultimately destroyed by the famine.
There is preservation in the middle of judgment.
NEW WINE REQUIRES NEW WINESKINS
SCRIPTURE
“Neither do men put new wine into old bottles…”
— Matthew 9:17
TEACHING
New wine cannot be contained indefinitely in an old structure.
This connects beautifully with the progression of the horsemen.
The white horse conquers.
The red horse divides.
The black horse weighs.
Why?
Because God is bringing His people out of old structures that cannot contain new wine.
The famine exposes the failure of the old system.
The preserved wine points toward the new.
OIL AND WINE ARE PRESERVED
SCRIPTURE
“And see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.”

TEACHING
This command reveals divine limitation.
Judgment is never random.
God knows exactly what He is doing.
He knows what must be shaken.
He knows what must be weighed.
He knows what must be exposed.
And He knows what must be preserved.
OIL REMAINS.
WINE REMAINS.
The Spirit remains.
The life remains.
The joy remains.
The covenant remains.
Christ remains.
GOD MEASURES HIS PEOPLE

“Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein.”

Measurement continues throughout Revelation.
God measures the temple.
He measures worship.
He measures the city.
Measurement is part of divine order.
The black horse introduces this principle early in the opening of the seals.
God is bringing everything to His standard.
Not man’s standard.
His standard.
THE MEASURE IS CHRIST
SCRIPTURE
“Unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ.”
— Ephesians 4:13
TEACHING
Here is the ultimate measurement.
Christ.
Not denomination.
Not tradition.
Not personality.
Not religious achievement.
THE MEASURE OF THE STATURE OF THE FULLNESS OF CHRIST.
That is the balance of God.
Anything less is incomplete.
Everything is being weighed against Him.
WHAT HAS CHRIST IN IT HAS WEIGHT

“Christ in you, the hope of glory.”

This is the substance God is after.
Christ in a people.
Not merely information about Christ.
Not merely doctrines about Christ.
Christ formed within.
The black horse exposes everything without that substance.
It weighs the system.
It weighs the teaching.
It weighs the heart.
And asks:
HOW MUCH CHRIST IS HERE?
WOOD, HAY, AND STUBBLE CANNOT SURVIVE

“Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble…”

Not everything built in the name of God has equal value.
Some things are gold.
Some silver.
Some precious stones.
Some wood.
Some hay.
Some stubble.
Divine judgment reveals the difference.
The black horse carries the balances.
The weight is being tested.
EVERY MAN’S WORK SHALL BE MADE MANIFEST

“Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it…”

Manifestation is Revelation language.
Hidden things become visible.
What looked substantial may prove empty.
What looked small may prove precious.
God’s judgment reverses human valuation.
The black horse therefore brings revelation through measurement.
FAMINE EXPOSES WHAT WE HAVE BEEN EATING

“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.”

TEACHING
Hunger is not always negative.
Famine can expose false food and awaken a hunger for true bread.
Sometimes men must discover that what they have been eating cannot sustain them.
Then they begin to hunger for Christ.
For truth.
For righteousness.
For revelation.
For life.
The black horse may expose famine, but that exposure can become the doorway to true hunger.
THE PRODIGAL CAME TO HIMSELF IN FAMINE
SCRIPTURE
“And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land…”

The famine helped bring the prodigal to himself.
What looked like judgment became a doorway to awakening.
He remembered the father’s house.
He remembered bread.
He arose.
He returned.
This is a powerful picture of redemptive judgment.
The famine was not the end of his story.
It helped turn him toward home.
The black horse operates in the same redemptive pattern.
IN MY FATHER’S HOUSE THERE IS BREAD ENOUGH

“How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare…”
— Luke 15:17
TEACHING
There is no famine in the Father’s house.
The famine belongs to the far country.
The scarcity belongs to separation from the source.
The Father has bread enough and to spare.
This tells us again:
GOD IS NOT THE SOURCE OF SPIRITUAL POVERTY.
Christ is abundance.
The Word is abundance.
The Spirit is abundance.
The black horse exposes the realm where men have disconnected themselves from that abundance.
THE BLACK HORSE IS JUDGMENT UNTO DISCERNMENT

“Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.”

God wants a people who can discern.
Not babes carried by every wind.
Not people who consume everything called spiritual.
A mature people can weigh.
Test.
Discern.
Separate.
Hold fast to what is good.
The black horse develops that capacity.

Truth enters.
Christ conquers.

Now everything is weighed.
This is the progression.
CONQUEST.
SEPARATION.
MEASUREMENT.
The process is becoming deeper.
God is not merely dealing with external things.
He is working within a people.
AFTER MEASUREMENT COMES THE EXPOSURE OF DEATH

“And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see.”
— Revelation 6:7

The fourth seal now waits before us.
The white horse revealed conquest.
The red horse revealed separation.
The black horse revealed measurement and famine.
Now the deepest enemy begins to appear.
The fourth horse is pale.
Its rider has a name.
DEATH.
And something follows behind him.
HELL.
But we already know something about death that Revelation chapter six cannot change.
Scripture has declared:
“The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.”
Therefore, when Death rides into the vision, he is not entering as the final victor.
He is being unveiled.
He is being exposed.
And whatever God exposes, He intends to bring under the victory of the Lamb.
NEXT COMES THE PALE HORSE.
HIS RIDER IS CALLED DEATH.
HELL FOLLOWS WITH HIM.
AND THE LAMB IS STILL OPENING THE BOOK.
CHAPTER SEVEN
THE PALE HORSE — DEATH AND HELL REVEALED
THE FOURTH SEAL IS OPENED
SCRIPTURE
“And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see.”
— Revelation 6:7
TEACHING
Once again, the pattern does not change.
THE LAMB OPENS THE SEAL.
The pale horse does not appear independently.
Death does not seize control of the book.
Hell does not open the seal.
The Lamb does.
That must govern everything we are about to see.
The first horse revealed conquest.
The second horse revealed separation.
The third horse revealed measurement.
Now the fourth seal exposes something deeper:
DEATH.
The progression is moving inward.
The Lamb is opening the book and uncovering the very powers that have held creation in bondage.
But exposure is not exaltation.
To reveal death is not to crown death.
To uncover hell is not to give hell the final word.
The Lamb is still standing.
The throne is still set.
The book is still in His hand.
BEHOLD, A PALE HORSE
SCRIPTURE
“And I looked, and behold a pale horse…”
— Revelation 6:8
TEACHING
The fourth horse is pale.
The word carries the thought of a sickly, greenish color.
It is the color of life fading.
The color of corruption.
The color of death working through what once lived.
This horse does not carry the brightness of the white horse.
It does not carry the fiery conflict of the red horse.
It does not carry the darkness and famine of the black horse.
It carries the appearance of death itself.
THE FOURTH HORSE REVEALS THE END OF THE OLD ORDER.
What conquest exposes, separation divides.
What separation divides, judgment weighs.
And what judgment finds unable to remain must come to death.
THE RIDER HAS A NAME
SCRIPTURE
“And his name that sat on him was Death…”
— Revelation 6:8
TEACHING
For the first time in the four seals, John directly names the rider.
DEATH.
That is important.
There is no need to speculate about his identity.
The Spirit tells us.
This rider embodies death.
But now we must ask the larger biblical question:
WHAT IS DEATH?
Where did it come from?
How did it enter?
What realm does it govern?
What has Christ done concerning it?
And what is its final destiny?
We cannot interpret the pale horse apart from the whole counsel of God.
DEATH ENTERED THROUGH ONE MAN
SCRIPTURE
“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin…”
— Romans 5:12
TEACHING
Death has a beginning in the biblical story.
It entered through Adam.
Sin entered.
Death followed.
Therefore, death belongs to the old creation.
The Adamic order.
The first man.
The realm of separation from divine life.
Death is not eternal.
Death is an intruder.
It is an enemy.
And anything that entered can also be removed.
DEATH CAME THROUGH ADAM.
That truth immediately points us toward the answer found in Christ.
IN ADAM ALL DIE
SCRIPTURE
“For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:22
TEACHING
Here are the two men again.
Adam.
Christ.
Death.
Life.
The first man brings death.
The second man brings life.
Therefore, the pale horse belongs to the realm of Adam.
It reveals the operation of death.
But the pale horse cannot be interpreted as the final destiny of creation because Scripture has already established the greater reality:
IN CHRIST SHALL ALL BE MADE ALIVE.
Death appears in Revelation 6.
But Life stands behind the book.
The Lamb is opening the seal.
THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH
SCRIPTURE
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
— Romans 6:23
TEACHING
Death is connected to sin.
Life is connected to Christ.
This is the biblical contrast.
Sin produces death.
Christ gives life.
The pale horse therefore reveals the consequence and administration of the old creation.
Everything founded in sin carries death within it.
Every false system carries death.
Every Adamic structure carries death.
Every realm separated from Christ carries death.
DEATH IS THE FRUIT OF THE OLD MAN.
TO BE CARNALLY MINDED IS DEATH
SCRIPTURE
“For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”
— Romans 8:6
TEACHING
Now death moves from a future event into a present state of being.
Paul does not merely say the carnal mind eventually produces death.
He says:
TO BE CARNALLY MINDED IS DEATH.
This greatly enlarges our understanding of the pale horse.
Death is not merely a corpse.
Death is a realm.
A mind.
A consciousness.
A state of separation from the life of God.
The horseman named Death therefore reveals more than physical mortality.
He reveals the entire Adamic realm in which death reigns.
THE DEAD CAN WALK
SCRIPTURE
“And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins.”
— Ephesians 2:1
TEACHING
These people were physically alive.
Yet Paul says they were dead.
That means biblical death cannot be defined only as physical expiration.
A person can breathe naturally and still exist in spiritual death.
A man can walk.
Speak.
Work.
Think.
Practice religion.
And yet remain dead in trespasses and sins.
So when Revelation unveils Death riding the pale horse, we must see the larger spiritual reality.
DEATH IS A CONDITION OF THE OLD CREATION.
ALIENATED FROM THE LIFE OF GOD
SCRIPTURE
“Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God…”
— Ephesians 4:18
TEACHING
This is death.
Alienation from life.
Darkened understanding.
Ignorance.
Blindness.
Separation.
Death is whatever exists apart from the life of God.
And the life of God is revealed in Christ.
Therefore, the pale horse represents the operation and exposure of everything belonging to that alienated realm.
DEATH REIGNED FROM ADAM
SCRIPTURE
“Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses…”
— Romans 5:14
TEACHING
Death is described as a king.
It reigned.
It governed.
It exercised dominion.
This makes the imagery of Revelation especially fitting.
Death is a rider.
Death rides.
Death administers.
Death has operated throughout the Adamic creation.
But Paul does not stop by telling us death reigned.
Another reign is coming into view.
GRACE REIGNS THROUGH RIGHTEOUSNESS UNTO LIFE
SCRIPTURE
“Even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.”
— Romans 5:21
TEACHING
There are two reigns.
Death reigns through Adam.
Grace reigns through Christ.
The pale horse reveals one reign.
The Lamb reveals the other.
And we already know which reign possesses the final victory.
GRACE REIGNS UNTO LIFE.
That means Death may ride, but Death does not rule forever.
HELL FOLLOWED WITH HIM
SCRIPTURE
“And Hell followed with him.”
— Revelation 6:8

Death has a companion.
HELL.
The word translated hell here is Hades.
It refers to the realm of the dead.
The unseen realm associated with death.
This is important because Revelation connects Death and Hades together repeatedly.
Death operates.
Hades follows.
Where death reigns, the realm of death follows with it.
But just as Death has a destiny, Hades also has a destiny.
Revelation itself will tell us what happens to both.
CHRIST HOLDS THE KEYS
SCRIPTURE
“I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore… and have the keys of hell and of death.”
— Revelation 1:18
TEACHING
Before Revelation ever introduces the rider named Death, Christ has already made this declaration.
I HAVE THE KEYS.
Who has the keys of hell and death?
Not Death.
Not Hades.
CHRIST.
That means the fourth horse appears under an authority already greater than itself.
Christ was dead.
Now He lives forevermore.
And He holds the keys.
This is one of the strongest truths we can carry into Revelation 6.
THE RIDER NAMED DEATH DOES NOT HOLD HIS OWN KEYS.
JESUS CHRIST HOLDS THEM.
CHRIST TASTED DEATH
SCRIPTURE
“That he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.”
— Hebrews 2:9

Christ entered death.
He did not avoid it.
He tasted it.
He entered the realm that held humanity.
But He did not enter as one who would remain captive.
He entered to conquer.
The cross was not death’s victory over Christ.
It became Christ’s victory over death.
THROUGH DEATH HE DESTROYED HIM THAT HAD THE POWER OF DEATH

“That through death he might destroy him that had the power of death…”

Look at the divine wisdom.
Christ destroys death’s power by passing through death.
The enemy’s greatest weapon becomes the doorway to victory.
The Lamb is slain.
Yet the Lamb stands.
Death takes Him.
Yet death cannot hold Him.
The grave receives Him.
Yet the grave must release Him.
THE LAMB CONQUERS DEATH FROM THE INSIDE.
Therefore, when Death appears on the pale horse, we are not seeing an undefeated power.
We are seeing an enemy whose sentence has already been established through the cross and resurrection.
HE DELIVERS THOSE IN BONDAGE TO THE FEAR OF DEATH

Death rules not only through dying.
Death rules through fear.
The fear of death creates bondage.
Fear controls decisions.
Fear shapes religion.
Fear shapes relationships.
Fear causes men to cling to systems God has already judged.
But Christ delivers from that bondage.
This is why Revelation should not be preached primarily as a book designed to terrify believers.
The Lamb did not conquer death so His Revelation could enslave His people to the fear of death.
HE CAME TO DELIVER THEM.
THE PALE HORSE EXPOSES FEAR

Fear belongs to the old realm.
Christ does not rule through terror.
He rules through truth.
Love.
Life.
A sound mind.
The pale horse exposes what fear has done within the Adamic order.
Where death is believed to be supreme, fear governs.
Where Christ is known as resurrection and life, fear loses its throne.
POWER WAS GIVEN UNTO THEM

Again, notice the language.
POWER WAS GIVEN.
Death does not possess unlimited authority.
Its operation has boundaries.
Its sphere is measured.
It functions under limitation.
This is not a picture of death taking over the throne.
It is a controlled operation within the opening of the seal.
The Lamb still governs the book.
THE FOURTH PART SPEAKS OF LIMITATION

Death does not receive the whole.
It receives a fourth part.
The number itself communicates limitation.
The operation is measured.

Its boundaries are set.

The sword appears again.
We have already established that the sword can speak of the Word and of divine judgment.
The Word brings death to that which belongs to Adam.
That is not necessarily destruction of the person.
It can be destruction of the old nature.
The false identity.
The carnal mind.
The lie.
The corrupt system.
Paul knew this operation personally.

Here is death that produces life.
Paul dies.
Yet Paul lives.
The old identity is crucified.

This is redemptive judgment.

The black horse has already revealed famine.
Now hunger appears within the fourth seal.
This shows that the horsemen overlap in their operations.
The seals are not isolated boxes.
Conquest leads to separation.

Famine exposes death.
The progression is deepening.
A realm without true bread eventually manifests death.
TO KILL WITH DEATH

The language is intense.
Death itself becomes an instrument of judgment.
Everything already belonging to death is brought fully into its own fruit.
The old creation cannot produce life.
Flesh cannot inherit the Kingdom.
Adam cannot be repaired into Christ.
The old man must come to an end.
DEATH BRINGS THE DEATH REALM TO ITS CONCLUSION.
And beyond that conclusion stands resurrection.
THE BEASTS OF THE EARTH

“And with the beasts of the earth.”

Beasts also belong to prophetic language.
Daniel saw beasts representing kingdoms.
Revelation will later unveil beasts connected with systems and governments opposed to divine nature.
A beast lives below the realm of man made in God’s image.
It speaks of nature governed by instinct rather than divine image.
Therefore, the beasts of the earth can reveal the brutal, carnal nature of the earthly order.
When divine restraint is removed, the beastly nature consumes.
This is part of the judgment of Adamic systems.
MAN WITHOUT UNDERSTANDING IS LIKE THE BEASTS

“Man that is in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish.”

Scripture itself makes the comparison.
The issue is not animals.
The issue is nature.
A man may possess outward honor and still live from a beastly realm if he lacks divine understanding.
The pale horse exposes the end of that nature.
The Kingdom is bringing forth the image of Christ.
Anything contrary to that image must be judged.
FLESH AND BLOOD CANNOT INHERIT THE KINGDOM

Adam cannot inherit the Kingdom as Adam.
Flesh cannot simply be polished.
The old nature cannot be reformed into resurrection life.

Death exposes the necessity of resurrection.
MORTALITY MUST BE SWALLOWED UP OF LIFE

This is God’s answer to death.
Not death forever.
LIFE SWALLOWS MORTALITY.
That is the direction of the finished work.
Death is not the swallowing power in the end.
Life is.
Christ does not merely rescue us from death.
He swallows death with life.

Scripture settles the issue.
Death is not God’s eternal partner.

The Lamb is unveiling an enemy that He has already conquered in principle and will bring completely to nothing in manifestation.

There is the end of the pale horse.
Victory.
Death rides in Revelation 6.
But death gets swallowed.
The grave appears.

But incorruption triumphs.

This is the full counsel of God.

HATH ABOLISHED DEATH.
Again we see finished work and manifestation.
The victory is accomplished in Christ.
The administration of that victory continues until creation fully experiences what Christ has accomplished.
The pale horse reveals death.
The Gospel reveals life and immortality.
And the Gospel has the final word.
I AM THE RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE

Christ does not merely give resurrection.
HE IS RESURRECTION.
He does not merely give life.

This is God’s answer to Adam.

Now Revelation interprets the destiny of the very powers introduced in the fourth seal.

Both come under the fire of God.

Therefore, the fourth horse cannot be used to teach the eternal supremacy of death.
Revelation itself destroys that interpretation.

We have now seen all four.
WHITE — CONQUEST.

If we leave the horsemen as four separate pictures, we have not yet seen the fullness.
They must now be brought together.
There is a progression.
There is an administration.
There is one throne behind them.
One Lamb opening the seals.
One book being unveiled.
One purpose moving toward completion.
THE FOUR HORSEMEN ARE NOT FOUR DISCONNECTED CATASTROPHES.
THEY ARE ONE UNFOLDING DIVINE ADMINISTRATION.
And that is where we go next.

We have now looked at the four horses one by one.
White.
Red.

The Four Horsemen are not four disconnected events scattered across history.
They belong to one book.
They are released by one Lamb.
They proceed under one throne.
They unfold through one divine purpose.
That means they must finally be seen together.
FOUR HORSES.
FOUR RIDERS.
FOUR OPERATIONS.
ONE ADMINISTRATION.
The Lamb is not opening four unrelated catastrophes.
He is unveiling a progression.
ONE LAMB OPENS ALL FOUR SEALS

“And when he had opened the second seal…”

“And when he had opened the third seal…”
— Revelation 6:5
“And when he had opened the fourth seal…”

The same phrase keeps appearing.
HE OPENED.
The Lamb opens the first.
The Lamb opens the second.
The Lamb opens the third.
The Lamb opens the fourth.
The riders do not control the sequence.
The horses do not determine the timing.
The book is not unfolding by accident.
The Lamb administers the opening.
That means the Four Horsemen must be interpreted under Christ’s authority.
Whatever they reveal, they reveal under His hand.
Whatever they accomplish, they accomplish within the boundaries of His purpose.
THE ORDER IS NOT RANDOM

White comes first.
Not red.
Not black.
Not pale.
WHITE.
Conquest begins the progression.
The first movement is victory going forth.
Then red appears.
Then black.
Then pale.

SEPARATION.
MEASUREMENT.
DEATH.
That progression resembles the way God deals with every false order.
Truth enters.
Truth confronts.
Truth measures.
Truth brings the old thing to its end.
Then something new can emerge.
THE WHITE HORSE ESTABLISHES THE DIRECTION

“And he went forth conquering, and to conquer.”
— Revelation 6:2

The first word over the Four Horsemen is not defeat.
It is conquest.
That establishes the direction of everything that follows.
The red horse does not cancel the white horse.
The black horse does not stop the conquest.
The pale horse does not defeat the rider on white.
The opening begins with victory.
THE LAMB HAS PREVAILED.
CONQUEST GOES FORTH.
Everything afterward must be interpreted inside that victory.
TRUTH CONQUERS BEFORE IT SEPARATES

“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Truth enters first.
When truth enters, deception loses ground.
But truth does more than comfort.
Truth also divides.
It makes distinctions.
It separates what is of God from what is not.
That is why red follows white.
The conquest of truth creates conflict with everything false.
REVELATION PRODUCES SEPARATION.
Once Christ is seen clearly, mixture becomes harder to maintain.
THE RED HORSE REVEALS THE CRISIS CREATED BY TRUTH

False peace can survive only while truth remains hidden.
Once the white horse goes forth, old agreements begin to break down.
Light and darkness cannot remain permanently mixed.
Spirit and flesh cannot share one throne forever.
Christ and Adam cannot rule the same man in peace.
The red horse reveals that crisis.
TRUTH DISTURBS FALSE PEACE.
The sword divides.
The old order begins to fragment.
THE SWORD PREPARES THE WAY FOR THE BALANCES

“And there was given unto him a great sword.”

The sword separates.
Once separation occurs, measurement becomes possible.
What is genuine?
What is false?
What is wheat?
What is worthless?
What carries life?
What carries death?
That is why the black horse follows the red.
FIRST DIVISION.
THEN DISCERNMENT.
God does not merely tear down.
He reveals value.
THE BLACK HORSE WEIGHS WHAT THE SWORD HAS EXPOSED

Now the work goes deeper.
Everything exposed by truth is brought to the balances.
God weighs.
God measures.
God tests.
What looked impressive may prove light.
What looked small may prove precious.
Religion is weighed.
Teaching is weighed.
Motives are weighed.
Systems are weighed.
The heart is weighed.
The question becomes:
WHAT HAS CHRIST IN IT?
That is the true measure.
DIVINE MEASUREMENT REVEALS FAMINE

“A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny…”

Once God weighs a system, scarcity may be exposed.
Much activity.
Little bread.
Much religion.
Little life.
Much labor.
Little Christ.
The black horse reveals famine.
But the famine is not the end.
It exposes the inadequacy of what men have been feeding upon.
Exposure can awaken hunger.
And hunger can drive men back to the Father’s house.
THE OIL AND WINE ARE PRESERVED
SCRIPTURE
“And see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.”
— Revelation 6:6

This is one of the clearest signs that the horsemen are not about meaningless destruction.
Something is preserved.
Oil.
Wine.
Spirit.
Life.
Anointing.
Joy.
Covenant.
Even while the old order is being measured and judged, God preserves what belongs to His life.
JUDGMENT DOES NOT DESTROY CHRIST.
JUDGMENT REMOVES WHAT HIDES CHRIST.
AFTER MEASUREMENT COMES DEATH

What is weighed and found outside divine life cannot remain forever.
The pale horse brings the progression to its deepest point.
Death.
The old man cannot be improved into the new man.
The flesh cannot be educated into Spirit.
Adam cannot be polished until he becomes Christ.
There must be an end.
THE OLD ORDER MUST DIE.
This is why pale follows black.
Measurement reveals what cannot continue.
GOD BRINGS THE OLD MAN TO THE CROSS

This is the spiritual principle behind the progression.
The old man is not God’s eternal project.
He is crucified.
The purpose is that the body of sin might be destroyed and that we should no longer serve sin.
This is death unto liberation.
The pale horse reveals an operation that brings the old order to its end.
But the cross never ends with death.
The cross always points toward resurrection.

Death can be a doorway.
The seed dies.

Christ goes into death.

The horsemen reveal a process.

It is the Lamb bringing everything under the reality of His victory.

Consider how this progression works within a person.
Christ is revealed.
Truth begins conquering the mind.
Then conflict appears because the old understanding resists.

Finally, what belongs to the old creation is brought to death.
And through that process, the new creation becomes visible.

The pattern is larger than an individual.
It operates in systems.

What is false becomes visible.
Peace is disturbed.

Famine is exposed.
What has no root in the Father eventually dies.
The purpose is not destruction for its own sake.
The purpose is to reveal what the Father actually planted.
THE SAME PATTERN OPERATES IN BABYLON

“Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen…”

Babylon does not fall because darkness defeats light.
Babylon falls because truth exposes what Babylon is.
The judgment of God uncovers the system.
The false order loses its glory.
Its merchants mourn.
Its power collapses.
Its mixture is revealed.
This is the same divine pattern.

MEASUREMENT.
DEATH OF THE OLD SYSTEM.
Babylon falls.
Zion remains.

This verse reveals the purpose of divine judgment.

God judges to establish order.

He removes mixture so purity can remain.
He brings the old to death so life can appear.
If our doctrine of judgment has no redemptive purpose, we have not yet seen the heart of the Lamb.
FIRE TESTS EVERY MAN’S WORK

“Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire…”

Fire reveals.
It tests.
It exposes the quality of what has been built.
Gold survives.
Wood does not.
Precious stones remain.
Stubble disappears.
Divine judgment distinguishes.
That is exactly what the horsemen are doing in progressive form.
Conquest exposes.
The sword separates.
The balances weigh.
Death removes what cannot remain.
THE PURPOSE IS NOT TO DESTROY THE PERSON

“If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved…”

This is a tremendous distinction.
The work can burn.
The man can be saved.
God can destroy what a person has built without destroying His purpose for the person.
False doctrine can die.
False identity can die.
Carnal works can die.
Religious systems can die.
But the purpose of God is life.
GOD JUDGES WHAT KILLS US.
HE PRESERVES WHAT BELONGS TO LIFE.
THE HORSEMEN ARE UNDER THE FINISHED WORK

“It is finished.”

This is where everything must remain anchored.
The Four Horsemen do not create the victory of Christ.
They operate beneath a victory already accomplished.
Calvary came first.
The Lamb was slain.
The Lamb prevailed.
Then the book is opened.
FINISHED WORK FIRST.
ADMINISTRATION SECOND.
Revelation shows what the finished work does when its victory begins penetrating every realm.
THE CROSS JUDGED THE WORLD

“Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.”

Jesus placed judgment at the cross.
That is vital.
The cross is not separate from judgment.
The cross is judgment.
It exposes the world.
It judges the prince of the world.
It reveals the end of Adam.
It establishes a new creation.
The horsemen therefore administer a judgment whose foundation is already present in Christ’s finished work.
THE PRINCE OF THIS WORLD IS JUDGED

“Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.”

Again, the judgment is already established.
The enemy’s sentence is not waiting for Revelation chapter six.
Christ has already prevailed.
What Revelation unveils is the outworking of that victory.
That is why the horsemen cannot ultimately produce a different ending than the cross.
The cross ends in resurrection.
The horsemen must move toward life.
ALL ENEMIES MUST COME UNDER HIS FEET

Here is the purpose of administration.
Christ reigns until every opposing power is brought under Him.
The white horse goes forth conquering.
The red horse confronts resistance.

The pale horse exposes death.
And the reign continues until even death itself is destroyed.
THIS IS KINGDOM ADMINISTRATION.
THE HORSEMEN DO NOT END THE STORY

Death appears as the fourth rider.

That proves the Four Horsemen are not the conclusion.

The New Jerusalem appears.
There is no more death.

God’s movement is always toward life.
The horsemen expose the law of sin and death.
But Christ brings another law.

The greater law swallows the lesser.
Life overcomes death.
Spirit overcomes flesh.
Christ overcomes Adam.
That is the direction of the entire book.
THE CREATION IS WAITING

The purpose is larger than personal deliverance.
Creation waits.
Not for more death.
Not for more fear.
Not for an endless reign of catastrophe.

Life.
Liberty.
Glory.
The horsemen are part of the divine administration that exposes and removes everything standing contrary to that manifestation.
CREATION SHALL BE DELIVERED

“Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.”

This is the destination.
DELIVERED.
Corruption does not win.
Bondage does not win.
Death does not win.
Creation moves toward liberty.
The Four Horsemen must therefore be read inside this larger biblical purpose.
Anything less leaves the story unfinished.

And as Christ is unveiled, a people are unveiled with Him.
This is where the horsemen become deeply personal.
They are not only something to study.
They reveal divine operations that work in a people.
Conquest.
Separation.
Measurement.
Death to the old.
All of it serves one purpose:
THE MANIFESTATION OF CHRIST.
ONE ADMINISTRATION — ONE DESTINATION

Here is the destination of divine administration.
ALL THINGS IN CHRIST.
The horsemen cannot be separated from that purpose.
They move within the great administration of God until everything contrary to Christ is exposed and everything belonging to Christ is manifested.
White.
Red.
Black.
Pale.
Each reveals an operation.
Together they reveal a process.
CHRIST CONQUERS.
TRUTH SEPARATES.
GOD MEASURES.
THE OLD ORDER DIES.
LIFE COMES FORTH.
That is the Four Horsemen seen from the throne.
THE HORSEMEN ARE NOT THE END.
THEY ARE THE ADMINISTRATION OF TRANSITION.
THEY MOVE CREATION OUT OF AN OLD ORDER AND TOWARD THE FULL MANIFESTATION OF CHRIST.
In the next chapter, we bring this entire revelation inward.
Not merely:
What are the Four Horsemen doing in the world?

WHAT ARE THE FOUR HORSEMEN ACCOMPLISHING IN A PEOPLE?
Because the greatest Revelation is not merely something happening around us.

WHAT THE FOUR HORSEMEN ACCOMPLISH IN A PEOPLE
THE REVELATION MUST COME INSIDE

The Four Horsemen are not merely symbols to be studied from a distance.
Their operation must be understood in a people.
If Revelation remains only outside us, then we have not yet seen its deepest purpose.
The white horse must ride in us.
The red horse must work in us.
The black horse must measure us.
The pale horse must expose death in us.
Why?
Because God’s purpose is not merely to change circumstances.
GOD IS FORMING CHRIST IN A PEOPLE.
The great mystery is:
CHRIST IN YOU.
That is where Revelation becomes living.

The Kingdom is not merely something we are waiting to see appear outwardly.

Government begins within.

The white horse reveals Christ going forth conquering and to conquer.
Where do the arrows strike?
THE HEART.
The first conquest is inward.

Everything within us that has resisted His government comes under the advance of truth.
The white horse does not merely conquer enemies around us.
HE CONQUERS THE ENEMY WITHIN.
STRONGHOLDS MUST FALL

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds.”

TEACHING
Strongholds are places where falsehood has become established.
A lie believed long enough can become a stronghold.
A tradition accepted without question can become a stronghold.
Fear can become a stronghold.
Condemnation can become a stronghold.
A wrong image of God can become a stronghold.
The white horse brings conquest into those places.
Truth advances.
Strongholds fall.
Christ gains ground.

This is inward conquest.
Every thought.
Not merely some thoughts.

Christ conquers by truth until our thinking comes into obedience to Him.

Once truth begins conquering, separation follows.
The sword begins cutting.
Soul from spirit.

GOD IS NOT AFTER A MIXTURE.
He is after purity.
FALSE PEACE MUST BE DISTURBED

There are places in us where false peace has ruled.
We have learned to live with contradiction.
We say grace while thinking law.
We confess Christ while thinking Adam.
We speak life while expecting death.
We proclaim freedom while living under condemnation.
For a season, those contradictions may coexist.
Then the sword comes.
TRUTH DISTURBS THE PEACE OF MIXTURE.
That disturbance is not rejection.
It is mercy.
God is bringing us into agreement with Christ.
SANCTIFICATION IS SEPARATION BY TRUTH

Sanctification is not merely religious behavior.
It is separation unto God.
And Jesus says it happens through truth.
The red horse works this separation.
Truth enters.
Mixture becomes visible.

We begin to recognize what belongs to Christ and what belongs to the old man.

We are not always reliable judges of ourselves.

How do I appear?

That measurement exposes immaturity.
But it also shows the destination.

Measurement is not condemnation.
A babe is not evil because he is a babe.
But a babe is not intended to remain a babe forever.
There must be growth.

The black horse reveals where nourishment has been lacking.

GOD MEASURES SO THAT WE CAN GROW.

Maturity develops discernment.
The mature can distinguish.
Good from evil.
Spirit from flesh.

The black horse is connected to this maturity.

A mature people must know how to weigh what they hear.
FAMINE REVEALS WHAT HAS FAILED TO FEED US

“Not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD.”

There comes a point when God allows our hunger to expose our diet.
What have we been eating?
Fear?
Tradition?
Sensationalism?
Condemnation?
Religious performance?
If it does not reveal Christ, it cannot satisfy the inner man.
The black horse exposes famine so hunger for true bread can arise.
BLESSED ARE THEY WHICH HUNGER

Hunger can be a blessing.
A hungry man begins searching.
A satisfied religious man may never move.
But when the old food no longer satisfies, we begin looking for bread.
The black horse can awaken that hunger.
And hunger prepares us for fullness.

In the middle of measurement, something remains untouched.
OIL.
The anointing.
The Spirit.
The inner witness of God.
God may strip away many things we depended upon.
Systems.
Traditions.

Ideas.
But He does not destroy His own Spirit within us.
The oil remains.
THE ANOINTING ABIDETH

The anointing remains.
That is why divine judgment does not leave us empty.
God removes substitutes so that the real can be known.
When dependence upon man falls, the Spirit remains.
When religious structures fail, the anointing remains.
When old understanding is shaken, the Teacher within remains.
GOD NEVER DESTROYS WHAT HE PLANTED.
HURT NOT THE WINE

Wine is preserved too.
Joy.
Life.
Covenant.
Divine experience.
The judgment of God is not designed to leave a people dry and lifeless.
It is designed to remove what has robbed them of true joy.

This becomes deeply personal.
There are old wineskins in us.
Old mindsets.
Old capacities.
Old religious frameworks.
God does not pour greater revelation into an unchanged vessel forever.
The vessel must expand.
The mind must be renewed.
The heart must enlarge.
The wineskin must become capable of carrying the wine.
THE PALE HORSE BRINGS THE OLD MAN TO DEATH

“Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him…”

Eventually the process reaches death.
Not death of Christ in us.
Death of the old man.
The Adamic identity.
The false self.
The carnal consciousness.
The pale horse exposes what cannot enter the Kingdom.
THE OLD MAN MUST COME TO AN END.
This is not God destroying the new creation.
It is God ending our identification with what already died in Christ.
YE ARE DEAD

“For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.”

Paul speaks in finished language.
YE ARE DEAD.
The old identity has already been judged in the cross.
The problem is that many believers continue thinking from the identity God has already crucified.
The pale horse brings that contradiction into view.
God is teaching us to stop drawing life from the dead man.
Our life is now:
HID WITH CHRIST IN GOD.
RECKON YOURSELVES DEAD TO SIN

Reckoning is agreement with what God accomplished.
Not trying to die.
Recognizing death already accomplished in Christ.
The pale horse reveals death so that we stop identifying with it.
We reckon the old man dead.
And we reckon ourselves alive unto God.

MORTIFY YOUR MEMBERS

“Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth…”

There is a practical outworking.
What is finished in Christ becomes manifest in us.
The earthly nature loses expression.
Old appetites lose government.
Carnal desires lose authority.
Not by religious suppression.
By identification with Christ.
The old man is put off.
The new man is put on.
PUT OFF THE OLD MAN

There is something to put off.
The old manner of life.
Old thinking.
Old identity.
Old reactions.
Old patterns.
The pale horse shows us the end of that realm.
Death is not the end of us.
It is the end of what we were in Adam.
PUT ON THE NEW MAN

God never removes without revealing what replaces it.
Old man off.
New man on.
Death gives way to life.
Adam gives way to Christ.

The horsemen are not taking us toward emptiness.

White conquers what resists Him.

Pale brings the old to death.
Then Christ appears more clearly.

Transformation is the goal.

OVERCOMERS ARE FORMED THROUGH CONQUEST

The overcomer comes to the throne.
But overcoming means something has been conquered.
The white horse establishes conquest.
Then the other horses deal with what remains.
God is producing a people who do not merely talk about the throne.
They live from throne consciousness.
They understand government.
They understand divine order.

KINGS AND PRIESTS ARE FORMED

“And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.”

The Lamb is forming kings and priests.
Priests carry divine nature toward people.
Kings carry divine government.
These are not carnal rulers.
They are people formed in the nature of the Lamb.
Before they can govern, government must first work in them.
YOU CANNOT ADMINISTER WHAT HAS NEVER RULED YOU.
The horsemen therefore prepare a people for Kingdom administration.
JUDGMENT MUST BEGIN IN US

Before we explain judgment to the world, we must experience the righteous judgment of God within.
The sword must work in us.
The balances must weigh us.
Death must be exposed in us.
The throne must govern us.

We stop using Revelation as a weapon against everybody else.
We allow it to unveil Christ in us.
SEARCH ME, O GOD

“Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts.”

This is the heart of a mature people.
Not:
Search everyone else.
Search me.
Try me.
Weigh me.
Expose what is false.
Reveal what is true.
Bring everything into agreement with Christ.
This is cooperation with divine administration.
JUDGMENT BECOMES OUR DELIVERANCE

“When we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.”

Judgment can be deliverance.
Correction can be mercy.
Exposure can be grace.
God shows us what is killing us so we can be free from it.
He reveals death so life can conquer.
He exposes Babylon so Zion can emerge.

JUDGMENT SERVES LIFE.
THE FIRE PURIFIES

“He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver…”

The refiner does not hate the silver.
He removes what is not silver.
That is a perfect picture of divine judgment in a people.
God is not trying to destroy His treasure.
He is removing the impurity surrounding it.
The white horse.
The red horse.
The black horse.
The pale horse.
All participate in that refining administration.
GOLD IS TRIED IN THE FIRE

“I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire…”

Revelation is full of purification.
Gold must be tried.
Garments must become white.
Eyes must be opened.
A people must overcome.
Why?
Because God is producing something genuine.

Not religious appearance.

We learn to compare spiritual things with spiritual.

Every operation ultimately moves toward liberty.
Conquest liberates us from strongholds.
Separation liberates us from mixture.
Measurement liberates us from false value.

The result is freedom in Christ.

IT IS AN ADMINISTRATION TOWARD LIBERTY.
THE VEIL IS REMOVED

Revelation means unveiling.
The horsemen participate in removing what has covered Christ.
Veils of tradition.

The horsemen operate under the throne.

Freed from identification with death.

Mature expressions of His life.

The horsemen are not merely signs around such a people.

Here is the purpose written before manifestation.
CONFORMED TO HIS IMAGE.
That is God’s destination for a people.
Every divine dealing serves that purpose.
If conquest serves it, conquest comes.
If separation serves it, separation comes.

If death to the old serves it, death comes.
But the destination remains Christ.
THE FOUR HORSEMEN ARE NOT TRYING TO DESTROY GOD’S PEOPLE

God’s dealings come from love.
He is not destroying His sons.
He is removing what prevents sonship from being manifested.
The surgeon cuts because healing is intended.

The Father corrects because sons are being formed.
So it is with the Four Horsemen.
THE ADMINISTRATION MAY BE SEVERE.
THE PURPOSE IS LIFE.
THE END OF THE PROCESS IS LIFE

The horsemen bring us through the death realm toward life.

A people identified with the Lamb.

A people no longer following fear.

The work of the horsemen produces overcomers.
A conquered people become a conquering people.
A judged people learn righteous judgment.

The sword separates.
The balances measure.
The old man is brought to death.
Christ emerges.
A people mature.
Life increases.
Glory appears.
And the process continues until God’s purpose reaches fullness.
We have now seen what the Four Horsemen accomplish in a people.
But one final question remains.
Where does all of this end?
Does the book end with pale horses?
Death?
Famine?
Conflict?
Judgment?
No.
The horsemen are not the destination.
The Lamb is.
THE BOOK BEGAN WITH THE LAMB.
THE SEALS OPEN UNDER THE LAMB.
THE HORSEMEN SERVE THE PURPOSE OF THE LAMB.
AND THE REVELATION MOVES TOWARD THE COMPLETE VICTORY OF THE LAMB.
In our final chapter, we follow that journey.
From conquest.
Through separation.
Through measurement.
Through death.
Into resurrection.
Into victory.
Into the throne.
Into the Kingdom.
Into the declaration that every enemy has been brought beneath His feet.

THE HORSEMEN ARE NOT THE END OF THE REVELATION

The Four Horsemen are powerful images.
White.
Red.
Black.
Pale.
Conquest.
Separation.
Measurement.
Death.
But none of these is the final word of Revelation.
The horsemen appear because the Lamb opens the seals.
That means the book never belongs to the horsemen.
THE BOOK BELONGS TO THE LAMB.
The seals belong to the Lamb.
The unfolding belongs to the Lamb.
The purpose belongs to the Lamb.
And the destination belongs to the Lamb.
So we must never stop our interpretation in Revelation chapter six.
The horsemen are part of the journey.
They are not the destination.
THE FIRST WORD WAS VICTORY
SCRIPTURE
“Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed…”
— Revelation 5:5
TEACHING
Before one horse ever rides, one truth is established:
HE HATH PREVAILED.
That is the foundation of the entire book.
Christ does not enter Revelation hoping to win.
He enters as the One who has already prevailed.
The cross has happened.
The resurrection has happened.
The Lamb is standing.
The book is in His hand.
The seals open from victory.
This means every horseman must be interpreted inside an already established triumph.
THE LAMB WAS SLAIN — AND YET HE STANDS

“And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne… stood a Lamb as it had been slain…”

The Lamb carries the marks of sacrifice.
But He stands.
Death touched Him.
But death did not keep Him.
The grave received Him.
But the grave did not hold Him.
He was slain.
Yet He stands in the midst of the throne.
THIS IS THE PATTERN OF REVELATION.
Death gives way to life.
Defeat gives way to victory.
The cross gives way to resurrection.
The old gives way to the new.
The horsemen cannot overturn this pattern.
THE WHITE HORSE DECLARES CONQUEST

“And he went forth conquering, and to conquer.”

The first horse declares the direction.
Conquest.
Christ advances.
Truth advances.
The Kingdom advances.
The Word advances.
The first movement out of the opened seals is not retreat.
IT IS CONQUEST.
Everything that follows remains under that declaration.
THE RED HORSE CANNOT CANCEL THE CONQUEST

“And power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth…”

The red horse introduces conflict.
Separation.
The sword.
False peace is disturbed.
But this disturbance does not mean the Kingdom is failing.
It means truth is doing its work.
The red horse reveals the crisis produced when the conquest of Christ meets resistance.
TRUTH DISTURBS WHAT FALSEHOOD BUILT.
The conflict is part of transition.
THE BLACK HORSE CANNOT CANCEL THE CONQUEST

“And he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand.”
— Revelation 6:5

The black horse introduces measurement.
Things are weighed.
Scarcity is exposed.
Famine is revealed.
But even here:
HURT NOT THE OIL AND THE WINE.
God preserves His life.
The Spirit remains.
The covenant remains.
The anointing remains.
The black horse reveals lack, but it cannot destroy the source.
THE PALE HORSE CANNOT CANCEL THE CONQUEST

“And his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him.”

Now the greatest enemy appears.
Death.
Hell follows.
But Scripture has already told us death’s destiny.
DEATH SHALL BE DESTROYED.
Therefore, even the fourth horse does not alter the direction established by the first.
The pale horse may reveal death.
But Revelation moves beyond death.
The Lamb still holds the book.
THE LAST ENEMY SHALL BE DESTROYED

“The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:26
TEACHING
Here the apostle Paul tells us exactly where the process is headed.
Death is not eternal ruler.
Death is not God’s final instrument.
Death is an enemy.
And its destiny is destruction.
This alone changes how we read the pale horse.
We do not look at Death and say:
This is the end.
We look at Death and say:
THIS ENEMY HAS A SENTENCE.
The victory of the Lamb reaches even here.
DEATH IS SWALLOWED UP IN VICTORY

“Death is swallowed up in victory.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:54

This is one of the clearest declarations in all Scripture.
Not:
Victory is swallowed by death.
But:
DEATH IS SWALLOWED UP IN VICTORY.
Life becomes the consuming power.
Immortality swallows mortality.
Incorruption swallows corruption.
Christ swallows Adam.
The Kingdom swallows every opposing order.
This is where the Revelation is going.
THE HORSEMEN SERVE TRANSITION
SCRIPTURE
“Behold, I make all things new.”
— Revelation 21:5
TEACHING
The Four Horsemen belong to transition.
They expose an old creation.
They uncover a realm that cannot remain.
They reveal what must be conquered.
What must be separated.
What must be weighed.
What must die.
Why?
Because God is making all things new.
THE HORSEMEN ARE NOT THE NEW CREATION.
THEY ARE PART OF THE PASSAGE OUT OF THE OLD.
THE OLD CREATION CANNOT INHERIT THE NEW

“Flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.”

TEACHING
The old cannot simply be carried unchanged into the new.
There must be transformation.
Corruption cannot inherit incorruption.
Mortality cannot remain forever.
The Adamic order must give way.
This is why divine administration can seem severe.
God is not preserving what cannot inherit the Kingdom.
He is bringing forth what can.
WE SHALL ALL BE CHANGED

“We shall all be changed.”

There is the divine answer.
Not eternal stagnation.
Change.
Transformation.
A putting off.
A putting on.
An old order giving way.
A new order appearing.
This is the same progression we have seen in the horsemen.
Conquest.
Separation.
Measurement.
Death.

CHANGE.
CORRUPTION MUST PUT ON INCORRUPTION

“For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.”

This is the direction of God.
Not toward more corruption.
Toward incorruption.
Not toward more mortality.
Toward immortality.
Not toward more death.

The horsemen uncover what belongs to corruption.
But the Lamb reveals the destiny of incorruption.
MORTALITY IS SWALLOWED UP

“That mortality might be swallowed up of life.”

The final swallowing power is life.
This is essential.
Death does not swallow life in the end.
Life swallows death.
Mortality does not swallow immortality.
Immortality swallows mortality.
That is the victory of the Lamb moving through creation.
THE LAMB HOLDS THE KEYS OF DEATH AND HELL

“I… have the keys of hell and of death.”
— Revelation 1:18

The pale horse revealed Death and Hell.
But who holds the keys?
JESUS CHRIST.
The rider named Death does not control the final outcome.
Hell does not control the final outcome.
Christ holds the keys.
That means He has authority over both.
And later Revelation shows exactly what happens to them.

“And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire.”

The very powers introduced with the pale horse eventually come under divine judgment.
Death is judged.
Hell is judged.
They are not enthroned.
They are removed.
This is why Revelation must be read to the end.
If we stop at the horsemen, death looks powerful.
If we keep reading, death loses.
THERE SHALL BE NO MORE DEATH

“And there shall be no more death…”

This is the final answer to the pale horse.
Revelation 6 says:
DEATH RIDES.
Revelation 21 says:
NO MORE DEATH.
The book has moved.
The administration has accomplished something.
An enemy that once rode through the old creation is gone from the new order.
This is victory.

“Neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain…”

The final order is not defined by the suffering revealed in the seals.
Sorrow ends.
Crying ends.
Pain ends.
Death ends.
That means God’s purpose was never to establish these things forever.
The judgments serve transition.
They expose what belongs to the former order.
THE FORMER THINGS ARE PASSED AWAY

“For the former things are passed away.”

There is the destiny of the old creation.
PASSED AWAY.
The old man.
The death realm.
The corrupt system.
The former order.
The horsemen reveal operations within the passing order.
But the Revelation carries us into what remains after the former things are gone.

“And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new.”

This is throne language.
The same throne we saw before the horsemen now speaks near the conclusion of the book.
What does the throne declare?
Not:
I make all things worse.
Not:
I make all things dead.
I MAKE ALL THINGS NEW.
This is the government behind the entire Revelation.
The horsemen serve that purpose.
THE THRONE WAS THERE BEFORE THE HORSEMEN

The throne was there first.
And the throne remains.
The horses come and go.
The throne remains.
Death appears.

Babylon appears.

THE LAMB REMAINS AT THE CENTER

The Lamb is not replaced as the book unfolds.
He remains central.
The entire Revelation must be interpreted around Him.
The horsemen do not become the center.
The beast does not become the center.
Babylon does not become the center.
THE LAMB REMAINS THE CENTER.
If Christ disappears from our interpretation, we have moved away from John’s vision.
THE LAMB OVERCOMES HIS ENEMIES

“These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them…”

The Lamb overcomes.
This repeats the message of Revelation 5.
He prevailed.
He overcomes.
Why?
“FOR HE IS LORD OF LORDS, AND KING OF KINGS.”
The final authority is not shared.
Christ reigns.
Every lesser power comes beneath Him.
THOSE WITH HIM ARE CALLED, CHOSEN, AND FAITHFUL

“And they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.”

The Lamb does not stand alone.
A people are with Him.
This connects directly with what we saw in the previous chapter.
The Four Horsemen work within a people until a mature company appears.
Called.
Chosen.
Faithful.
Conformed to the Lamb.
Sharing His victory.
THEY OVERCAME BY THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony…”

The victory of the Lamb becomes the victory of a people.
How?
By His blood.
By testimony.
By refusing to love the old life unto death.
This is the fruit of divine administration.
A people no longer controlled by fear.
A people no longer ruled by death.
A people who know the Lamb has prevailed.
THEY LOVED NOT THEIR LIVES UNTO THE DEATH

“And they loved not their lives unto the death.”

This is the pale horse answered in a people.
Death loses its power to intimidate.
The old life has already been surrendered.
The fear of losing Adamic identity is gone.
Christ has become life.
Such a people cannot be controlled by the threat of death because they have found another life.
CHRIST IS THEIR LIFE.
THE KINGDOMS BECOME HIS

“The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ…”

This is where divine administration moves.
Not toward eternal rivalry.
Toward government.
The Kingdom of God advances until every opposing government is brought under Christ.
The white horse began with conquest.
Now the conquest reaches fullness.

“And he shall reign for ever and ever.”

The reign of death ends.
The reign of Christ does not.
The reign of Babylon ends.
The reign of Christ does not.

The purpose is not merely external submission.
The confession is:

The divine administration has a destination.
ALL THINGS IN CHRIST.
The Four Horsemen must be interpreted inside that purpose.
They are operations on the way to gathering.

Division serves eventual true unity.

ALL THINGS ARE RECONCILED

Notice where peace finally comes from.

The red horse removed false peace.

True peace must be founded in Christ.

The Lamb’s government ultimately produces peace.

The horsemen serve an administration moving toward this fullness.

Every contrary order is dealt with.
And God’s life fills the whole purpose.
THE NEW JERUSALEM COMES DOWN

“And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven…”

Revelation does not end with four horsemen.
It ends with a city.
A bride.
A dwelling place.
Union.
The New Jerusalem represents the fulfillment of God’s desire to dwell with man.
The horsemen reveal transition out of the old creation.
The city reveals the glory of the new.
THE TABERNACLE OF GOD IS WITH MEN

“Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them…”
— Revelation 21:3

This is the destination of the Revelation.
GOD WITH MAN.
Not eternal separation.
Dwelling.
Union.
Presence.
The horsemen move through judgment.
But judgment serves the larger purpose of removing everything that prevents this union from being fully manifested.

“And they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.”

The Revelation ends relationally.
Not mechanically.
Not with charts.
Not with military maps.

That is what the Lamb has been bringing forth all along.

Look at the final picture.
A river.
Water.

The same throne that governed the horsemen now releases life.
This reveals the true nature of the throne.
Its final expression is not death.

THE TREE OF LIFE APPEARS AGAIN

Genesis and Revelation meet.
The tree of life appears in the beginning.
The tree of life appears at the end.
The whole biblical story moves toward life.
Death entered.
But death does not remain.

But the serpent does not remain.
The curse appeared.

THE LEAVES ARE FOR THE HEALING OF THE NATIONS

Nations that once experienced conflict now encounter healing.
This is the destination beyond the red horse.
Healing.
Restoration.
Life.
The Lamb’s victory does not merely defeat enemies.

Revelation removes it.

Revelation means unveiling.
What is the ultimate unveiling?
HIS FACE.

The Revelation ends where all true revelation must end:
With Christ fully seen.
HIS NAME SHALL BE IN THEIR FOREHEADS

His nature marks the mind.
His identity governs consciousness.
The old mark is gone.
The old nature is gone.
The old government is gone.
His name fills the forehead.
A people think from Him.

This is mature Kingdom consciousness.

“And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun…”

The black horse carried darkness.
But darkness does not survive.
There is no night.
The famine of light ends.
The scarcity ends.
The Lamb becomes illumination.

The new order lives by divine light.

God Himself becomes the light.
No darkness.
No deception.
No famine of truth.

The black horse’s realm is gone.

The book that began with a throne ends with a reigning people.
This is no accident.
The throne produces throne people.
The Lamb forms kings and priests.

Now we can look back at the first horse.
Conquering.
And to conquer.
Where does the conquest go?
All the way.

Until God dwells with man.

THE CONQUEST DOES NOT FAIL.

False peace was removed.
But true peace appears through the cross.
The conflict served separation.

The famine exposed scarcity.
But the end of Revelation is abundance.

But death did not remain.
The final word is:

The old creation reaches its end.
And beyond all four:
RESURRECTION.

“Fear not; I am the first and the last.”

The Revelation of Jesus Christ was never given to make God’s people slaves to fear.
John falls before Christ.
What does Jesus say?
FEAR NOT.
The One speaking has already passed through death.
He holds the keys.
He controls the book.
He opens the seals.
He governs the process.
Therefore, our response is not terror.
It is worship.
Faith.
Discernment.
Confidence in the Lamb.

Babylon cannot change it.
The beast cannot change it.
The dragon cannot change it.

This is the invitation at the end of Revelation.
Not:
Come drink death.
Not:
Come receive fear.
TAKE THE WATER OF LIFE FREELY.
Life is the final invitation.
Life is the final river.
Life is the final order.
Life is the victory of the Lamb.
THE FOUR HORSEMEN HAVE BEEN DECODED

TEACHING
We have followed the horsemen from Genesis language through the prophets, into Revelation, through the seals, and back into the full counsel of God.
We have seen:
The white horse as conquest.
The red horse as separation.
The black horse as measurement.
The pale horse as death exposed.
And we have seen them together as one unfolding administration beneath the throne of the Lamb.
The horsemen do not announce the defeat of God’s purpose.
THEY REVEAL THE ADMINISTRATION OF A VICTORY ALREADY WON.
The seals open because the Lamb has prevailed.
The operations unfold because the book is in His hand.
The old order is judged because a new order has already been established in Christ.
And the entire Revelation moves toward the same glorious conclusion:
