INTRODUCTION

HOMESCHOOL PLANNER 2026–2027 is designed to give homeschool families one central place to plan the year, organize the weeks, track each child’s education, and preserve the records that matter.

Instead of requiring separate notebooks for lesson plans, attendance, grades, reading lists, curriculum, and activities, this planner brings those important pieces together into one organized system.

It is designed for families homeschooling one to four children, while remaining flexible enough to accommodate different ages, grade levels, subjects, curricula, and homeschooling styles.

Most importantly, this planner recognizes something every experienced homeschool parent eventually learns:

The plan and the actual day are not always the same thing.

Children move at different speeds. Lessons sometimes take longer than expected. A fascinating subject may deserve another day. Appointments happen. Beautiful weather invites an unexpected field trip. Sometimes everyone simply needs a break.

Your planner should work with your homeschool—not make you feel controlled by it.

For that reason, these pages provide room not only to plan what you intend to accomplish, but also to record what your family actually completes.

Use the pages you need. Adapt them to your family. Write generously. Change plans when necessary. Record victories along the way.

PART ONE

SETTING UP YOUR HOMESCHOOL YEAR

A successful homeschool year does not require a perfect plan.

It requires a plan that fits your family.

Use this opening section to establish the basic structure of your homeschool year, identify what you want each child to accomplish, organize your curriculum and resources, and put the important information you will need throughout the year in one convenient place.

Do not feel pressured to complete every space at once. Some plans will change as the year progresses. That is normal.

This planner is designed to serve your homeschool—not control it.

1. HOW TO USE THIS PLANNER

Your homeschool is unique.

You may homeschool one child or several children. You may follow a traditional school calendar, homeschool year-round, use a four-day week, participate in a co-op, combine subjects among children, or create an entirely different schedule.

Use the pages that serve your family and adapt the system when necessary.

A SIMPLE WAY TO BEGIN

Step 1 — Set Up Your Year

Record your school-year dates, important events, holidays, breaks, and major commitments.

Step 2 — Set Up Each Student

Complete a student profile for each child and identify the major goals you hope to accomplish this year.

Step 3 — Choose Your Subjects and Curriculum

Record the subjects each child will study and the curriculum, books, programs, and resources you plan to use.

Step 4 — Plan Month by Month

Use each monthly section to identify the most important goals, lessons, activities, appointments, and events.

Step 5 — Plan Week by Week

Use the weekly pages to organize lessons and assignments while leaving room for changes.

Step 6 — Record What Actually Happened

Plans change. When they do, record what your children actually completed.

Step 7 — Keep Your Records

Throughout the year, update attendance, instructional time, grades, reading, curriculum, field trips, activities, and progress records.

Step 8 — Review and Adjust

Use the quarterly and year-end reviews to recognize progress and decide what needs to change.

REMEMBER

A planner should reduce stress—not create it.

ONE CHILD — ONE STORY OF PROGRESS

A grade can tell you how a student performed on an assignment.

It cannot tell the whole story of a homeschool year.

It cannot show the day a struggling reader finished a book independently.

It cannot fully capture the project that began with one question and turned into a week of discovery.

It cannot measure every new skill, growing interest, difficult concept overcome, or moment when a child became more confident and independent.

Use them to preserve the measurable progress.

But also preserve the growth that cannot be reduced to a number.

LEARNING LEAVES EVIDENCE

Not everything a child learns will appear on a test.

Sometimes learning appears in a paragraph that is clearer than the one written six months earlier.

Sometimes it appears in a math problem the child can finally solve without help.

Sometimes it appears in a science experiment, a painting, a presentation, a project, a conversation, or a newly mastered life skill.

Those moments are worth noticing.

You do not have to save everything.

Save enough to tell the story.

At the end of the year, the goal of a portfolio is not to prove that every day was perfect.

It is to preserve evidence that learning happened.

Progress deserves to be remembered.
